The largemouth and white bass bite was good. The white bass were caught on jerkbaits and the largemouth were caught on trick worms and crawdads. Went up river and to deep laydowns, but couldn't find any smallmouth.

Catfishing here is very abundant and extremely active. I recommend the following for best results bait wise. Chicken or Rabbit liver, Nightcrawlers, Minnows or Shad and Hot Dogs. The catfish feed regularly, but I've had better success closer in the evenings around 7:30 to 8:30 before the lake closes. Any location, shoreline or at the piers will yield results, but be advised the biggest I've pulled was a ten pound channel cat on a carolina rig fishing with liver. This lake sadly is a catch and release lake due to high levels of PCBs in the lake and creeks surrounding the area.

The reports here are Laughable(site report, not other fishermens real time experiences) bass down south don't stop biting bc of the heat! Bass have to support their higher metabolic rate spurred on by the higher water temps. Sure, the bite CHANGES, when it gets hot but the durn things gotta eat and warmer water down here means an aggressive need to feed. Top waters are good early and evening, also hit em on black/blue combo jigs. Spend time finding the schools of bait fish. Best success is always fishing parallel to bank, bass will feed up so no need to be on the bottom. Suspending cranks do well especially along rocky edges that lead around main creek channel flows. Look for quality on this lake, not quantity. Green pumpkin finesse worms can trigger bites in the heat of the day. I test lures for 30 mins once I find em, then tweak one variable at a time (color, size, type). Stay focused and you can zone in on what they want for a particular day.
