Fish were very active. Mainly sand bass. Large miuth were active as well. Mainly feeding on shad and insects (top water). Landed a 3lb large mouth on a white fluke minnow (plastic, fishing it weedless style). Switch to a bomber serious shad and caught two more. All in the coves of the lake.

"Bass fishing numbers have slowed down a bit as water temps near the 50 degree mark, but some quality fish are geing caught. The keys are to slow down and fish deeper this time of year. Other factors I key on are rocks and baitfish. Find them and you will usually find fish. Guide Trips available. Call 817-944-2441"

- So water was mainly 44-46 in most places around the lake. Fish farely deep on the main lake and couldn't get bit. Fish are not on main lake points or drops. Work you way into the secondary points and ditches/channels in the back of creeks. Water back there is in the 47-49 range. With this snow Tues 4/23 not totall sure what thats going to do with them temps. Shad Pattern Traps and Shakey Heads with Grn/Pumpkin Red or Wat Candy/ Red Trick worms! The Bite is tough tough to come by!

Crappie Tips for Current Conditions (automated):
Spawning should be in full swing now, but some will still be in a prespawn mode. If you are not catching quality fish on likely spawning cover, back off and target prespawn crappies instead. Spawning takes place on woody cover such as: brush piles, stake beds, etc... in the upper ends of brushy coves and creek arms, in 2 to 8 feet deep, and some as shallow as 6 inches deep depending on the lakes water clarity. Prespawn fish will be in three to six feet of water, but will chase minnows shallower. Tight-lining minnows on long rods is the standard method now, but target-casting grubs and tubes to submerged wood works, too.

- No Walleye in Grapevine Lake
Walleye Tips for Current Conditions (automated):
This is the water temperature of choice for walleye. They are feeding well and moving in patterns that should be fairly easy to pick up and capitalize on today. Baitfish are not at the peak of activity but they will be in good supply in the deeper water. The lake is really turning on this time of year and the fish should be biting well.

Current Lunar Fishing Tip:

The affects of the moon on freshwater fish and game are at a minimum right now. There will be another full moon coming up here in a few days. The fisherman should never use this as an excuse to not get on the water. The affects of the moon can only enhance the outcome of a day's fishing not decrease potential catch for today. On days without the new or full moon, all other factors including weather, barometric pressure, wind and cloud cover will make up today's equation for success.
