Crappie Tips for Current Conditions (automated):
Spawning should be in full swing now, but some will still be in a prespawn mode. If you are not catching quality fish on likely spawning cover, back off and target prespawn crappies instead. Spawning takes place on woody cover such as: brush piles, stake beds, etc... in the upper ends of brushy coves and creek arms, in 2 to 8 feet deep, and some as shallow as 6 inches deep depending on the lakes water clarity. Prespawn fish will be in three to six feet of water, but will chase minnows shallower. Tight-lining minnows on long rods is the standard method now, but target-casting grubs and tubes to submerged wood works, too.

This is the water temperature of choice for walleye. They are feeding well and moving in patterns that should be fairly easy to pick up and capitalize on today. Baitfish are not at the peak of activity but they will be in good supply in the deeper water. The lake is really turning on this time of year and the fish should be biting well.

Current Lunar Fishing Tip:

The affects of the moon on freshwater fish and game are at a minimum right now. There will be another full moon coming up here in a few days. The fisherman should never use this as an excuse to not get on the water. The affects of the moon can only enhance the outcome of a day's fishing not decrease potential catch for today. On days without the new or full moon, all other factors including weather, barometric pressure, wind and cloud cover will make up today's equation for success.
