11/23/2018 Very slow, spent all day out there and covered most sections of the lake. Cats weren’t hitting crawlers or dough. Some small bass action on swim lures and worm jigs. Very., very, slow. Hope it picks up soon.

Yesterday we caught 24 bass trolling from a boat. Weeds have been cut down so they are no longer on the surface but they are on the bottom. We were using a crank bait and found fish all over the lake, they are scattered due to the weeds. Seen the fishing videos here :https://youtu.be/cgX7jdrwXSw

Due to recent stocking, the trout fishing had been good to excellent, but now has become fair. The next stocking is JAN 13...so fishing should improve again.

- caught a few of these suckers with a nightcrawler
also very effective is rubber lures that look like a squid
panfish bait works good too...these fish are very aggressive and will bite lots of live baits and lures
note: they tend to travel in schools
Crappie Tips for Current Conditions (automated):
Spawning should be in full swing now, but some will still be in a prespawn mode. If you are not catching quality fish on likely spawning cover, back off and target prespawn crappies instead. Spawning takes place on woody cover such as: brush piles, stake beds, etc... in the upper ends of brushy coves and creek arms, in 2 to 8 feet deep, and some as shallow as 6 inches deep depending on the lakes water clarity. Prespawn fish will be in three to six feet of water, but will chase minnows shallower. Tight-lining minnows on long rods is the standard method now, but target-casting grubs and tubes to submerged wood works, too.
Ascarate Lake Walleye Rating:

Walleye Tips for Current Conditions (automated):
This is the water temperature of choice for walleye. They are feeding well and moving in patterns that should be fairly easy to pick up and capitalize on today. Baitfish are not at the peak of activity but they will be in good supply in the deeper water. The lake is really turning on this time of year and the fish should be biting well.

Current Lunar Fishing Tip:

The affects of the moon on freshwater fish and game are at a minimum right now. There will be another full moon coming up here in a few days. The fisherman should never use this as an excuse to not get on the water. The affects of the moon can only enhance the outcome of a day's fishing not decrease potential catch for today. On days without the new or full moon, all other factors including weather, barometric pressure, wind and cloud cover will make up today's equation for success.
