I remember one trip where the fish would smack the bait off the hook before eating it. After the fifth one did that we gave up for the day.

Loon Lake Largemouth Bass Tips: [ Add Tip ]
- i checked you site on monday june 7reported water temp was 53 arived two hours later actual temp was 54 water level was 4 -5 feet ubove normal due to 5'' rain in 6 days temp went up to 56-58 for a couple hours but stabilized at 56
fishing was slow due to very muddy water was able to get a few bites but nothing much
on arriving home thurs morn your reported water temp was 60 not true rain for two days and cloud cover kept temp at 56 max. how do you compute water temp?
next several days should be sunny and warm i think temp will hit 60 in next 4-5 days and spawn should start some time middle to late next week. hopefully water will clear up if rain stops.
Largemouth Bass Tips for Current Conditions (automated):
With Loon Lake at 41 degree water temperature this is a great time to get out on the water and try hitting some deeper primary and secondary points. Largemouth bass will be feeding at this water temperature but will be much harder to catch. On Sunny warm afternoons its a great time to throw a crank bait, jigs or slow roll a spinnerbait at 5-10 foot on sunny points and drops off of sunny flats. Largemouth Bass will move into warm water on warm sunny days.
Loon Lake Smallmouth Bass Rating:

- Use a worm and cast out into desired place and slowly jig and reel it back in. Good spots are the fishing dock and shaded grassy areas.

Smallmouth Bass Tips for Current Conditions (automated):
Smallmouth bass fishing is going to be slow with the water temperature at 41 degrees. It's time to fish deep and slow. Try some deep primary points, drop offs, and old river channels with rocks. Jigs, plastics and deep jerk baits will be your best bet to boat a smallmouth.
Loon Lake Crappie Rating:
4.1
Loon Lake Crappie Tips: [ Add Tip ]
Crappie Tips for Current Conditions (automated):
Crappie fishing is sometimes at its best with the water temperature down this low. Crappie will be in large schools and follow the large shad schools around in extremely deep water. Find the deepest parts of your lake in old river channels and scan your graph for schooling shad. When you find the school, drop your plastics or live bait down to the bottom of the shad and get ready. Many crappie fishermen will be catching awesome numbers and size of fish this time of year. If you are brave enough to get out on the water this time when the water temperature is this cold, it can really pay off. Be careful out there, remember to boat safely. Never take any chances at these temperatures.
Loon Lake Walleye Rating:
2.4
Loon Lake Walleye Tips: [ Add Tip ]
- as far as i know there are no walleye in loon lake ive been fishing there for 20 yrs never heard of any
Walleye Tips for Current Conditions (automated):
Walleye function very well in the colder water temperatures. Try fishing some open flats and definitely use live bait when the water temperature is this low. Plastics with scent added will also produce results, but nothing beats live bait for walleye.
Loon Lake Catfish Rating:

- use worms with a green corky for lots of bullhead action on the dock by the

Catfish Tips for Current Conditions (automated):
The catfish family comprises of blue catfish, flathead catfish and channel catfish. Since catfish are warm water fish, they arenít going to be very active in this water temperature. They will still be feeding, but catfish will only be found very deep and feeding very slowly. Your best bet is give some of the more active fish species in your lake a shot until the cats are active again.

Current Lunar Fishing Tip:

The full moon is right around the corner. The gravitational pull is starting to increase with the moon and sun being on opposite sides of the planet. Watch the peak fishing times and make sure you are on the water during that part of the day to take full advantage of today's solar/lunar peaks. It's always fun trying something new at the peak times to change things up a bit and test out the Lunar Theory each time you hit the water in close to full and full moon situations. Good luck you there.
