Species: Largemouth Bass
Fishing Rating: 2
Water Temperature: 60
Fishing is best when there is little to no wind present. Catching Largemouth and Smallmouth on both East and West shorelines. Rainbows have gone deeper since the weather warmed up. It's hit or miss at the boat launches.
Shawnee Lake General Tips: [ Add Tip ]
General Tips for Current Conditions (automated):
Shawnee Lake Largemouth Bass Rating:
Shawnee Lake Largemouth Bass Tips: [ Add Tip ]
- Fish close to the grass growing in full bloom and you'll get lunkers.
Largemouth Bass Tips for Current Conditions (automated):
With Shawnee Lake at 44 degree water temperature this is a great time to get out on the water and try hitting some deeper primary and secondary points. Largemouth bass will be feeding at this water temperature but will be much harder to catch. On Sunny warm afternoons its a great time to throw a crank bait, jigs or slow roll a spinnerbait at 5-10 foot on sunny points and drops off of sunny flats. Largemouth Bass will move into warm water on warm sunny days.
Shawnee Lake Smallmouth Bass Rating:
Shawnee Lake Smallmouth Bass Tips: [ Add Tip ]
- Fish deep on the north side of the lake using tubes or craw imitations. Lots of lunkers out there. Also a lot of little guys in the fingers of the lake where the are rocks and sand.
Smallmouth Bass Tips for Current Conditions (automated):
Smallmouth bass fishing is going to be slow with the water temperature at 44 degrees. It's time to fish deep and slow. Try some deep primary points, drop offs, and old river channels with rocks. Jigs, plastics and deep jerk baits will be your best bet to boat a smallmouth.
Shawnee Lake Crappie Rating:
Shawnee Lake Crappie Tips: [ Add Tip ]
- Night fishing is really good but the
depth of the crappie is not always
consistent. Last week the big ones were
12 feet down, this week I am getting them
around 2 to 4 feet down around structure
on dark jigs. Cast to the schools and
reel slowly through the outer edges of
the school. Been bringing in 10,12, and
even 13\" fish every night.
Crappie Tips for Current Conditions (automated):
Crappie will just be starting their migrating runs from deep river channels toward major tributaries. They will suspend in open water and channels in deep water and cover on the break lines. Crappie will stage off primary and secondary points this time of year while they are getting ready for spawn. Make sure you don?t forget the river channels, especially with structure and sharp breaks in deep water. Some crappy will hang back in this area waiting to come up to the staging areas. Drifting and slow (REALLY SLOW) trolling with jigs and other artificials work great this time of year. Always look for baitfish schools and concentrate more time when you see the bait.
Shawnee Lake Walleye Rating:
Shawnee Lake Walleye Tips: [ Add Tip ]
- You'll need to fish deep on the flats when there's no wind present. But on days when the water is churning they move close to the shorelines from 3 to 10 feet deep. Use twister tails grubs, jigs, and crankbaits to get them.

Shawnee Lake Catfish Rating:
Shawnee Lake Catfish Tips: [ Add Tip ]
- These guys are all over the place. Just use something with a strong smell and you'll get them. Chicken livers, power bait, even Gulp worms have worked for me.
Catfish Tips for Current Conditions (automated):
The catfish family comprises of blue catfish, flathead catfish and channel catfish. Since catfish are warm water fish, they arenít going to be very active in this water temperature. They will still be feeding, but catfish will only be found very deep and feeding very slowly. Your best bet is give some of the more active fish species in your lake a shot until the cats are active again.
Shawnee Lake Spotted Bass Rating:
Shawnee Lake Spotted Bass Tips: [ Add Tip ]
- You'll find these guys close by where ever you find the Largemouths. Use the same techniques. Topwater,Jigs&Pig,Cranks,Plastics,Spinners. Just about every presentation will work, you just have to locate them.
Spotted Bass Tips for Current Conditions (automated):
Spotted bass fishing is going to be slow with the water temperature down this low. It's time to fish deep and slow. Try some deep primary points, drop offs, and old river channels with rocks. Jigs, plastics and deep jerk baits will be your best bet to boat a Spotted.
Shawnee Lake White Bass Rating:
Shawnee Lake White Bass Tips: [ Add Tip ]
- I was fishing on a paddle boat using a
