I always look at this fishing report to see if anyone has added any info to it. I always find it funny how they say there are no fish in this lake or that it is poor for fishing. I have been fishing this lake since the late 80's and have always had pretty good luck. not every time but most times it has proven to provide nice sized redear and blue gills. may 9th-may 12th of 2017 me and a few family members (8 all together) caught 842 fish (bluegills and redears) in 4 days. while heading to the fish cleaning station in the campground one day, there was a guy just coming off of the water. we pulled up next to him to fasten down our boat and asked him how his day on the water went. I could tell he was "giddy" as he says pretty good. then asked me if I would take a picture of his catch. I said absolutely, to which he reached in his livewell and pulled out 2 of the biggest bass I have seen caught in Indiana waters. one had to of been 7 pounds and the other close to 9.

Spawn is close for crappie.. Had good luck with bluegill at 10 to 15 feet in water column. Using a green and black, green and white crappie magic jig body. Caught crappie but was slow. Should improve real quick the rest of this week and next. Fish cleaning station is not working so be prepared for the worst in cleaning your fish. Bee moths for gills.

Fished good Friday weekend (2013) and caught nothing. No one around us caught anything, I\'m beginning to think there are no fish here.

SKUNKED. I found that this lake has very few fish in it. I checked most of this lake to its maximum depth of 30 ft and found a few schools of crappie but nothing else. my side view fishfinder probed the cover all around the lake including the trees that protrude from its surface. Fish are hiding or there isn\'t any. Went for perch but caught nothing. poor lake for fishing.

Dogwood Lake Largemouth Bass Tips: [ Add Tip ]
Largemouth Bass Tips for Current Conditions (automated):
With Dogwood Lake at 47 degree water temperature this is a great time to get out on the water and try hitting some deeper primary and secondary points. Largemouth bass will be feeding at this water temperature but will be much harder to catch. On Sunny warm afternoons its a great time to throw a crank bait, jigs or slow roll a spinnerbait at 5-10 foot on sunny points and drops off of sunny flats. Largemouth Bass will move into warm water on warm sunny days.

Smallmouth Bass Tips for Current Conditions (automated):
Smallmouth bass fishing is going to be slow with the water temperature at 47 degrees. It's time to fish deep and slow. Try some deep primary points, drop offs, and old river channels with rocks. Jigs, plastics and deep jerk baits will be your best bet to boat a smallmouth.
Dogwood Lake Crappie Rating:
3.7
Dogwood Lake Crappie Tips: [ Add Tip ]
Crappie Tips for Current Conditions (automated):
With the Water Temperature at 47 Prime Crappie fishing is in full swing. Crappies should be migrating to their spawning areas now. They?ll either be up in the final spawning area now or at tributary entrances. Concentrate around 15 feet of water. Fish Primary points at the mouth of the creek arms. Fish Targets at this point instead of focusing on bait fish. Fish trees, shrubs, vegetation, etc. Fishing correctly this time of year will get you snagged quite a bit since you need to focus on making and keeping contact with the cover.

The catfish family comprises of blue catfish, flathead catfish and channel catfish. Since catfish are warm water fish, they arenít going to be very active in this water temperature. They will still be feeding, but catfish will only be found very deep and feeding very slowly. Your best bet is give some of the more active fish species in your lake a shot until the cats are active again.

Current Lunar Fishing Tip:

The affects of the moon on freshwater fish and game are at a minimum right now. There will be another full moon coming up here in a few days. The fisherman should never use this as an excuse to not get on the water. The affects of the moon can only enhance the outcome of a day's fishing not decrease potential catch for today. On days without the new or full moon, all other factors including weather, barometric pressure, wind and cloud cover will make up today's equation for success.
