Water Temperature:
Spent most of the day on the water. 0930-1300, took a break for lunch and then back out from 1400-1700. Only caught 2 walleye (one right at 15" and the other about 16"). Only other action was a small bullhead. The three fish we caught were on bottom bouncers with worm harnesses, trolling real slow. There were about 25 boats on the lake. Didn't see anyone else catching many either. Talked to one of the regulars there. The boat inspection station was locked up. Apparently DOW has no funding to man it. Rumor has it DOW is shutting down the lake to boating once the water temperature reaches 52 degrees. Can anyone confirm this and what is magical about 52 degrees?

Largemouth Bass Tips for Current Conditions (automated):
With Julesburg Reservoir at 46 degree water temperature this is a great time to get out on the water and try hitting some deeper primary and secondary points. Largemouth bass will be feeding at this water temperature but will be much harder to catch. On Sunny warm afternoons its a great time to throw a crank bait, jigs or slow roll a spinnerbait at 5-10 foot on sunny points and drops off of sunny flats. Largemouth Bass will move into warm water on warm sunny days.

Smallmouth bass fishing is going to be slow with the water temperature at 46 degrees. It's time to fish deep and slow. Try some deep primary points, drop offs, and old river channels with rocks. Jigs, plastics and deep jerk baits will be your best bet to boat a smallmouth.

Julesburg Reservoir Crappie Tips: [ Add Tip ]
Crappie Tips for Current Conditions (automated):
With the Water Temperature at 46 Prime Crappie fishing is in full swing. Crappies should be migrating to their spawning areas now. They?ll either be up in the final spawning area now or at tributary entrances. Concentrate around 15 feet of water. Fish Primary points at the mouth of the creek arms. Fish Targets at this point instead of focusing on bait fish. Fish trees, shrubs, vegetation, etc. Fishing correctly this time of year will get you snagged quite a bit since you need to focus on making and keeping contact with the cover.

The catfish family comprises of blue catfish, flathead catfish and channel catfish. Since catfish are warm water fish, they arenít going to be very active in this water temperature. They will still be feeding, but catfish will only be found very deep and feeding very slowly. Your best bet is give some of the more active fish species in your lake a shot until the cats are active again.

Current Lunar Fishing Tip:

The full moon has just past. The gravitational pull is starting to decrease with the moon and sun being on opposite sides of the planet. Watch the peak fishing times and make sure you are on the water during that part of the day to take full advantage of today's solar/lunar peaks. It's always fun trying something new at the peak times to change things up a bit and test out the Lunar Theory each time you hit the water in close to full and full moon situations. Good luck you there.
