Pickerel are abundant. Shiners and silver spinners with dark feathers work best. Muskies can be caught by off the shoal by the power lines. Find the perch and you will find the muskies. The perch will also hit the silver spinners.

The two best places to fish at Beltzville are around the dam and in the small creeks running through. I suggest using live baits or berkley gulp worms. Most other lures have little to no results. Tons of panfish and crappie here

Beltzville Lake Largemouth Bass Tips: [ Add Tip ]
- This has to be one of the worst places to fish. Out for 6 hours today and not even a bite. Any tips
greatly appreciated.

Largemouth Bass Tips for Current Conditions (automated):
With Beltzville Lake at 44 degree water temperature this is a great time to get out on the water and try hitting some deeper primary and secondary points. Largemouth bass will be feeding at this water temperature but will be much harder to catch. On Sunny warm afternoons its a great time to throw a crank bait, jigs or slow roll a spinnerbait at 5-10 foot on sunny points and drops off of sunny flats. Largemouth Bass will move into warm water on warm sunny days.

Beltzville Lake Smallmouth Bass Tips: [ Add Tip ]
- Fish shoals and points for smallmouth. Live minnows and spinners, such as Rooster tails work very well. Silver spinners with black feathers work best. The point where the Pohopoco and Wild Creek channels meet is a favorite spot for smallies. The steep south side of the Wild Creek channel is also a good smallmouth spot. I have had decent action by the Pine Run bridge.

Smallmouth Bass Tips for Current Conditions (automated):
Smallmouth bass fishing is going to be slow with the water temperature at 44 degrees. It's time to fish deep and slow. Try some deep primary points, drop offs, and old river channels with rocks. Jigs, plastics and deep jerk baits will be your best bet to boat a smallmouth.
Beltzville Lake Crappie Rating:
2.5
Beltzville Lake Crappie Tips: [ Add Tip ]
Crappie Tips for Current Conditions (automated):
Crappie will just be starting their migrating runs from deep river channels toward major tributaries. They will suspend in open water and channels in deep water and cover on the break lines. Crappie will stage off primary and secondary points this time of year while they are getting ready for spawn. Make sure you don?t forget the river channels, especially with structure and sharp breaks in deep water. Some crappy will hang back in this area waiting to come up to the staging areas. Drifting and slow (REALLY SLOW) trolling with jigs and other artificials work great this time of year. Always look for baitfish schools and concentrate more time when you see the bait.
Beltzville Lake Walleye Rating:
2.5
Beltzville Lake Walleye Tips: [ Add Tip ]
Walleye Tips for Current Conditions (automated):
Walleye will be staging and getting ready to spawn now. With Walleye spawning grounds generally on gravel and rocky bottoms and preferring clean water. Start looking for pre-spawn fish in deeper waters with easy access to shallow clean water rocky bottoms. Walleye should be feeding aggressively right up until they start laying eggs. This is a perfect time to be fishing for Walleye.
Beltzville Lake Catfish Rating:
3.5
Beltzville Lake Catfish Tips: [ Add Tip ]
Catfish Tips for Current Conditions (automated):
The catfish family comprises of blue catfish, flathead catfish and channel catfish. Since catfish are warm water fish, they arenít going to be very active in this water temperature. They will still be feeding, but catfish will only be found very deep and feeding very slowly. Your best bet is give some of the more active fish species in your lake a shot until the cats are active again.

Beltzville Lake Striped Bass Tips: [ Add Tip ]
- Fish points off coves, they come in later in the day to feed. Drifting around the dam piers at night, vary weight using medium split shots, drifting or slow troll, but not bottom fishing. Leave out 20 feet of line make a few drifts then 30feet slow troll. More or less line, depending on where you mark fish in the water column. These fish love ailwives(local schooling baitfish), chicken livers, even large crawlers trailing. They school chasing baitfish, when site fishing toss floating rapalas, and countdowns just under surface above stripers. Color of choice is black/silver and blue /silver hard bodies. They are there in great numbers, if you seek them, you will catch them...up to 30+lbs. Good luck FISH ON!!! July is smoking for Stripes.
