Big bass are suspended right now looking for shad. With the water still in the 40\'s it\'s perfect
time for baits that are stop and go, that stay in the strike zone. A lot of bass are being caught,
many in the 3 to 6 pound range.

DNR is stocking about 1000 trout next weekend!
Was there last weekend in a boat (you need to be a greenbelt resident)
Day started out slow because we docked from a really weedy spot, took forever to get out.
Tried some grub jigs to little avail, some little hits but nothing.
Switched to a tube lure, forgot to apply a weight to it and couldn\'t cast at all.
Left it in the water while i went to get some weights out of the tackle, and BAM. A huge crappie slammed the line. After catching 3 like that, my dad switched to a tube also. We weren\'t even using weights! Just drop them down, and they\'d come up to the boat sometimes to get them.
Right after, i caught another huge slab and while my dad inspected it, he got a huge one on his line himself!
If we stayed all day, we probably could\'ve caught enough to feed us for a week! Don\'t worry though, we threw them all back so they\'re still prime for catching.
This was just a practice run for when we stock up on the trout next weekend. But these are HUGE crappie, i don\'t think they\'re accessible from the shore without monster casting though. (they were also just beyond a huge slab of algie)
I suggest a bubble float on light line.

The weeds have improved the bass numbers. lot\'s of 13\" size bass. Great for kids to learn how to bass fish. Teach them ethics & morals of catch & release.

I finally caught a crappie on a minnow fishing LR and the DV bridge. I really have wondered if there were any crappie in these waters.

Glad to here about your catch of the smallmouth and one largemouth. If you
don\'t mind where is the south end and what kind of crankbait/color did you
use. I fish off the shore at Dulaney bridge.
thanks and good luck!

Went 7/16/12. Hooked one smallmouth about 10\" and one largemouth about 16\" all on the south end using a Crankbait. They weren\'t hitting on nightcrawlers.
