The bass are everywhere but are finicky. Best bet is sight fishing with a shaky head worm.
Or sub surface/top water in spots where the banks are covered with trees and hydrilla and
lily pads mix.

Today, January 24, 2013, caught 15 of these fish on Ron\'s Zip Jigs tipped
with a minnow in 18 to 20 feet of water. This is probably good, however I
was looking for Speckled Perch, only got three of these big enough to keep.

I was at the boatramp a few weeks ago when a gentleman and his wife were pulling their boat out. He showed me his bucket of specks. He kept about a dozen but claimed to have caught about 50 in four hours. He was rigged with yellow jigs. This was around Jan. 1st, 2012. He said they caught a bunch of smaller ones and only kept the 12 nice ones I saw.

1-17-13, Fished Kerr in a cold windy rainy cold front. Strong wind with white caps made it impossible to control the boat. Spent 4 hours trolling at 2.2 mph with small Rapalas, silver and gold. Caught 3 Bass under 15 inches, two bluegill and one Crappie.

Bass are slow to take any bait, but there are huge fish in some sections
(over 7 pounds) caught infrequently by the persistent angler. Right now,
low water depths and a very large alligator have made the largely unknown
lunker haven pretty quiet. But wait for Spring and some goof luck and the
big ones will be out and bitin\' Clint
