I have been out to the lake 3 different times this year. Each time it has been bright and sunny. I have caught 5 pickerel each time out. From small to some of the biggest pickerel i have ever seen. I have two pics of 20 to 24 inch fish and i an guessing about 2 to 3 pounds. I have caught 1 bigger but as i held it up to take a pic it broke off the line , it had to be at least 24 inches and close to if not over 3 pounds. This is not a fish story as i have been fishing for over 30 years and have a good perception of what size and weights are. I will try to set up for more pictures and weights in the future.

I have been fishing this lake for almost twenty years. The vast majority of fish here are small chain pickerel. I have caught one catfish years ago off a lure, by accident. I believe there are NO bass of any kind. The easy access and surrounding environment is what keeps me going.

Caught a nice 1lb largemouth on night crawler and bobber. I know, kind of lame, but I had a bunch of worms leftover from taking my little kids fishing for sunnies. Scooped up 4 little smallmouths as well. Had to fight off some sunnies, but well worth the 1 hr down there

With all the rain we have been having the water is very cloudy and the wind is making the conditions tough. The pan fish spawn if in full swing with them holding tight to their nests, which are easy to see and numerous. Some reports have that the bass catch has been limited and small overall but this could be caused by the excessive wind we have been having lately.

It\'s good largemouth bass lake but it is private water, operated by Montclair School of Conservation. I fish the lake because I have permission of the Dean. The water is closed to outsiders.
