5/18/13: Lake temps average between 57-58 degrees. Males have prepared beds but most females are deeper. Caught a few large females deep but most fish caught were males shallow. Suspect spawn is soon.

I talked to a local guy that\'s been fishing the lake since he was 14 and he\'s 80 now. He said
there are no striped bass in the lake.

Obviously no one is doing anything on this site at all. The water hasn\'t been 71 in weeks. It was 78 on Sat, Aug 25th, and the fishing was horrible. Totally dead.Gorgeous day, but lousy fishing. The water level is dropping rapidly (down probably 11 inches) so lots of rocks showing.
Somebody call me when the water temp gets back to 71.

I went there last year and caught 4 in one night. All an estimated 2 pounds.
They are out around 9pm-7am in water about 5-15 feet deep. You can chum
with wet dog food. For bait you can use pretty much anything that has a
strong smell(I used decaying fish). To chum you just toss a hand full in the
water.

Seems like the fishing has dropped off. Fish caught are smaller than earlier in the month and a 10 catch day is becoming more prevalent. What should we be doing to get the 2+ lbers and upping the count or have we descended into the summer doldrums? Suggestions appreciated.
June 29 was a stunning day on Squam. The eagles are still on Loon Island.

6/13/2012: Knocked them dead. Wife and I caught and released 35 smallies. 20 of the 35 were in the 2+ lb range. Best day ever on the water for us. Gorgeous lake.
