thursday july 19, 2012 midge hatch going on all day long. dramatic until sun hits water. fish just under surface feeding on larvae as they approach surface. some huge fish seen. mid-day, damselfly hatch bringing sporadic fish to surface. nearly all activity in middle of lake this time of day--water quite warm. unable to catch any fish using midge pattern \"jigged\" deep(one strike), surface midge drys, leech pattern(w and w/out egg)stripped, lures-z-ray, panther martin, mepps, kastmaster. definitely some big fish in this lake--have seen some 18\" very thick fish trolling the banks, but hard to get them to take a fly or lure. fished from 7am to 4pm. fish surfaced/jumped within 10\' of canoe all day long.
