Largemouth bass fishing is going to be slow with the water temperature at 47 degrees. If you have a chance to get out on the water, you are going to have to fish deep and slow. Jig fishing and Plastic baits may be your best bet this time of year for largemouth bass. You may also try fishing some sinking jerk baits.

"I fished Taylorsville os Sunday and started fishing for crappie. The water vwas clear and there are shad everywhere. We fished for about 3 hours and caught 1 13 inch crappie and lots of small bass, they where on the wood next to the banks in anywhere from 8 to 25 feet. We also caught 1 blue cat on minnows. After the 3 hours I changed and went to a baby brush hog ( green pumpkin ) and started getting hit until I hooked 1 largemouth about 15 inches. After that we had to leave. All things concidered not a bad day for having used minnows for most of the day and not bass fishing. The bass are biting at taylorsville and I will be back this Sunday and I will not be minnow fishing so I can try bass fishing and hopefully I will catch a few more bass."

Crappie fishing is sometimes at its best with the water temperature down this low. Crappie will be in large schools and follow the large shad schools around in extremely deep water. Find the deepest parts of your lake in old river channels and scan your graph for schooling shad. When you find the school, drop your plastics or live bait down to the bottom of the shad and get ready. Many crappie fishermen will be catching awesome numbers and size of fish this time of year. If you are brave enough to get out on the water this time when the water temperature is this cold, it can really pay off. Be careful out there, remember to boat safely. Never take any chances at these temperatures.

- 3 nice size cats yesterday bluegill fishing. worm with float about 6 feet deep 20 yards out in 25 ft of water - pretty odd, but no doubt about them being hungry the way they were nailing it. Only bites when the breeze moved from the east, no bites while breeze from the soutwest.
Catfish Tips for Current Conditions:
The catfish family comprises of blue catfish, flathead catfish and channel catfish. Since catfish are warm water fish, they aren’t going to be very active in this water temperature. They will still be feeding, but catfish will only be found very deep and feeding very slowly. Your best bet is give some of the more active fish species in your lake a shot until the cats are active again.

Fished for Whites Spring,Summer and now fall. Several days of 50 plus fish most were about 10 inches. Small crank baits work well. As always let them all go back to grow up.

"We have a sunday morning club at Taylorsville that we started last Sunday the 24th...Our boat caught about 20lbs. of fish we were culling bass about halfway thru the tournament...I have heard so many anglers say that Taylorsville is dead this time of year, well I gotta say eat your hearts out...Fishing is at the top at Taylorsville and I love it...If there is anybody who would like to come out and join us this weekend...We meet at Possum Ridge at 6:15-6:45...Tourney starts at safelight and ends at the time we decide at the time usually 1:30...hope to see more out there!!!!"
