Lake McClure Crappie Tips: [ Add Tip ]
Crappie Tips for Current Conditions (automated):
Crappie fishing is sometimes at its best with the water temperature down this low. Crappie will be in large schools and follow the large shad schools around in extremely deep water. Find the deepest parts of your lake in old river channels and scan your graph for schooling shad. When you find the school, drop your plastics or live bait down to the bottom of the shad and get ready. Many crappie fishermen will be catching awesome numbers and size of fish this time of year. If you are brave enough to get out on the water this time when the water temperature is this cold, it can really pay off. Be careful out there, remember to boat safely. Never take any chances at these temperatures.

Catfish Tips for Current Conditions (automated):
The catfish family comprises of blue catfish, flathead catfish and channel catfish. Since catfish are warm water fish, they arenít going to be very active in this water temperature. They will still be feeding, but catfish will only be found very deep and feeding very slowly. Your best bet is give some of the more active fish species in your lake a shot until the cats are active again.

5 minutes later a 2 lb black bass same lure...I am coming back, great lake...

I stuck to my game plan, fish the points with a deep diving crank...most seemed to be suspended about 15 feet close to rocky points...

Threw Jigs, senko's, spooks early am and spinner(white with chartruese trailer)...nothing....water temp averages about 61 degrees, No wind, water clarity about 10 feet

Lake McClure Trout Tips: [ Add Tip ]
- trout fishing is great in the coves and around the houseboats. Fish at night with some lights and drop your worm/power bait to about 35-60 feet. if you want to catch the bigger fish, pout a little larger piece of bait on and drop it into colder waters.

Lake McClure Solar and Lunar Conditions
Current Lunar Fishing Tip:
The affects of the moon on freshwater fish and game are at a minimum right now. There will be a new moon coming up here in a few days. The fisherman should never use this as an excuse to not get on the water. The affects of the moon can only enhance the outcome of a day's fishing not decrease potential catch for today. On days without the new or full moon, all other factors including weather, barometric pressure, wind and cloud cover will make up today's equation for success.
