At 57 degree water temperature largemouth bass fishing is in pre-spawn now. It's time to get fishing. Female bass are going to be moving up to the spawning beds. Bass prefer to spawn in weedy and woody cover deep in coves that will be protected from the wind and other elements. This is the best time to catch the lake record bass. The female bass will be feeding until they reach the beds and start the spawn. The smaller male bass will be attacking lures also. It is on like donkey kong!!! Hit the water NOW, we can?t believe you are reading this and not fishing right now. GET OUT!!

Iron Gate Reservoir Crappie Tips: [ Add Tip ]
- When Crappie are out of season the best thing is to find a rocky area and drop live or plastic bait in front of (or into if you\\\'re not afraid of snags) with little to no weight. They may or may not take the bait, although they will certainly investigate.
Crappie Tips for Current Conditions (automated):
Crappie should be getting ready to spawn. Stay out in deeper water and look for schools. Schooling shad will be harder to find with this water temperature so when you find it, stay on it. Crappie schools will be breaking up quite a bit getting ready for the spawn. Also try fishing shallower with small crank baits and spinners on the warm banks with direct sunlight. This is a great time to be on the water.

Iron Gate Reservoir Catfish Tips: [ Add Tip ]
- Catfish are best found in deep water scouring the bottem for food. They prefer bait that is alive and kicking, so the best strategy is to cast or drop your line as far into the lake as possible. Depending on the type of catfish, the lake conditions, and weather conditions, they may prefer a dark night over a bright day.
Catfish Tips for Current Conditions (automated):
The catfish family comprises of blue catfish, flathead catfish and channel catfish. Since catfish are warm water fish, they arenít going to be very active in this water temperature. They will still be feeding, but catfish will only be found very deep and feeding very slowly. Your best bet is give some of the more active fish species in your lake a shot until the cats are active again.

Iron Gate Reservoir Solar and Lunar Conditions
Current Lunar Fishing Tip:
The full moon has just past. The gravitational pull is starting to decrease with the moon and sun being on opposite sides of the planet. Watch the peak fishing times and make sure you are on the water during that part of the day to take full advantage of today's solar/lunar peaks. It's always fun trying something new at the peak times to change things up a bit and test out the Lunar Theory each time you hit the water in close to full and full moon situations. Good luck you there.
