Welcome to 12,500 acre Tuttle Creek Lake, the second largest lake in Kansas. All that water can make for some nice fishing. Populations of many game fish species have been enhanced by a stocking program conducted by the Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks. Excellent channel and flathead catfish can be found in the lake and in the river above and below. Worms, minnows, shad, and crayfish are preferred baits. Good populations of crappie can be found in wooded coves and submerged brush piles using jigs and live minnows. The best times for crappie fishing are spring and late fall. Brush pile fish attractors have been added to the lake to enhance crappie habitat. Fair numbers of largemouth bass are caught in the southern half of the lake and in River Pond. Bass tend to stay back in the protected coves near brushy cover, so anglers should concentrate their efforts near standing timber and brush piles. Use worms, crank baits, and spinner baits. Tuttle Creek Lake Crappie Tips: [ Add Tip ]
Crappie Tips for Current Conditions (automated):
Crappie fishing is sometimes at its best with the water temperature down this low. Crappie will be in large schools and follow the large shad schools around in extremely deep water. Find the deepest parts of your lake in old river channels and scan your graph for schooling shad. When you find the school, drop your plastics or live bait down to the bottom of the shad and get ready. Many crappie fishermen will be catching awesome numbers and size of fish this time of year. If you are brave enough to get out on the water this time when the water temperature is this cold, it can really pay off. Be careful out there, remember to boat safely. Never take any chances at these temperatures.

Tuttle Creek Lake Solar and Lunar Conditions
Current Lunar Fishing Tip:
The crescent moon will have better gravitational pull than a gibbous or half moon. However the affects of the moons gravitational will be decreased since the sun and moon aren't pulling in conjunction with one another. It's time to pay close attention to the other fishing factors in the weather to make the best decision for hitting the water.
