Clear Lake Largemouth Bass Tips:
- 5/7/10. Just spent five days on the lake. Cold front after cold front has been hitting the area and the wind is causing 2 to 6 foot rollers. No joke! Everyone was having a tough if not impossible time. The hens are way offshore and the bucks are suspending in ten to twenty foot water just waiting. Had luck with some sight fishing and drop shotting submerged trees at Lake Berryessa for smallies and hybrids. But with night temps in the 30's and the intense wind here, wait till it calms down. Spring has been long, cold and rainy.
Largemouth Bass Tips for Current Conditions:
77 degrees in in the largemouth bass prime water temperature range and fishing should be good right now. Baitfish are much more active in this water temperature and the largemouth bass will be feeding aggressively throughout the day. This is a great time of year to be on the water.

Clear Lake Smallmouth Bass Tips:
Smallmouth Bass Tips for Current Conditions:
Smallmouth bass fishing is going to be pretty slow at this water temperature. Bass will typically start moving much slower and feeding less aggressive until the water temperature starts to get back down to comfortable levels. When the water temperature is up this high, get out fishing early and late and cast in the shallows. When the sun is up it will be time to get out into deeper water, try fishing some drop offs and deep channel bends.

Clear Lake Fishing Reports

Fishing Rating: 1      Water Temperature: 0

The catfishing is good to excellent in the south end of the lake but I could not get any reports on the north end.  Brad Farrin of Dons Bait & Tackle in Clearlake 707-995-9668 says the catfishing has been excellent. Boaters drifting Jago Bay in 15 to 18 feet of water are catching 8 to 10 cats per person running from 5 to 12 pounds with live jumbo minnows. Shore fishermen using chicken livers are loading up on 2 to 4 pound channel cats at Red Bud Pier and Highlands Park.  for the rest of this fishing report to to http://www.fishinreport.com/dailyreport/California/North_Coast_Lakes/Clear%20Lake/Default.htm and http://www.catfished.com/

Clear Lake Solar and Lunar Conditions
Current Lunar Fishing Tip:
The affects of the moon on freshwater fish and game are at a minimum right now. There will be a new moon coming up here in a few days. The fisherman should never use this as an excuse to not get on the water. The affects of the moon can only enhance the outcome of a day's fishing not decrease potential catch for today. On days without the new or full moon, all other factors including weather, barometric pressure, wind and cloud cover will make up today's equation for success.
