General: The lake of the Ozarks was created with the construction of Bagnell Damn at the Osage River in central Missouri in 1931.  The reservoir impoundment includes three smaller tributaries to the Osage, the Niangua River, Grandglaize creek and Gravois Creek.  The lake area is an astounding 55,000 acres and stretches over 1150 miles of shoreline.  Since the lake was built it has become a top vacation spot in the midwest for both boating enthusiast and fisherman.  Lake of the Ozarks is a stop for BASS tournaments and FLW fishing tournaments, not to mention the dozens and dozens of smaller local fishing competitions.   Lake of the Ozarks at the time of construction was the largest man made lake in the united states.

Fishing: Many freshwater sport fishing species are actively pursued in Lake of the Ozarks.  With over 70,000 lake homes along the 1150 miles of shoreline, many of which have a boat dock and man, it's an excellent lake for bass fishing.

72 degrees in in the largemouth bass prime water temperature range and fishing should be good right now. Baitfish are much more active in this water temperature and the largemouth bass will be feeding aggressively throughout the day. This is a great time of year to be on the water.

- There is great Crappie fishing in the docks at Parkview Bay

Crappie prefer this water temperature and will be actively feeding and staying in solid patterns. Baitfish are more active and schooling in all parts of the lake in this water temperature.

This is the water temperature of choice for walleye. They are feeding well and moving in patterns that should be fairly easy to pick up and capitalize on today. Baitfish are not at the peak of activity but they will be in good supply in the deeper water. The lake is really turning on this time of year and the fish should be biting well.

- use hotdogs. my first time there caught 4 catfish in 2 hours and had a big one on the line but snapped my line.

The entire catfish family is very active and actively feeding in this water temperature. All catfish including blue catfish, flathead and channel catfish will be looking for their next meal. It’s perfect time to get on the water and fill the freezer. Good luck out there.
