Lake Pleasant Largemouth Bass Tips: [ Add Tip ]
- Split shot 12-16" from a medium snelled hook, tippped with minnow. Toss towards structure, and hold on! My 4 & 5 yr olds had a blast reeling in a total of 5 Largemouth Bass today. Biggest was 19". Went out with minimal expectations due to the cold water temp. Can't wait for the season to start! Jayce and Bob Shannon.

Largemouth Bass Tips for Current Conditions:
Largemouth bass fishing is going to be slow with the water temperature at 47 degrees. If you have a chance to get out on the water, you are going to have to fish deep and slow. Lake Pleasant Crappie Tips: [ Add Tip ]
Crappie Tips for Current Conditions:
Crappie fishing is sometimes at its best with the water temperature down this low. Crappie will be in large schools and follow the large shad schools around in extremely deep water. Find the deepest parts of your lake in old river channels and scan your graph for schooling shad. When you find the school, drop your plastics or live bait down to the bottom of the shad and get ready. Many crappie fishermen will be catching awesome numbers and size of fish this time of year. If you are brave enough to get out on the water this time when the water temperature is this cold, it can really pay off. Be careful out there, remember to boat safely. Never take any chances at these temperatures.

Catfish Tips for Current Conditions:
The catfish family comprises of blue catfish, flathead catfish and channel catfish. Since catfish are warm water fish, they aren’t going to be very active in this water temperature. They will still be feeding, but catfish will only be found very deep and feeding very slowly. Your best bet is give some of the more active fish species in your lake a shot until the cats are active again.

Fished Castle Creek on 1-8-2012 anchored in 36ft of water with drop offs on one side to deeper water and one side to shallow water. Best bite is noon to sunset. Use frozen achoives, Body parts only, no head no tails. Cut into pieces (should be able to get 2 to 3 pieces per anchovie) on 8lb clear line, with Eagle Claw # 4 snell hooks and split shot. Dont get fancy with your rigs.. its simple stuff here! Put the split shot 2 inches from the hook on the snell line. Fish different depths to find the fish. Try going all the way to the bottom and reel it up one or two cranks right off the bottom. I personally been catching 10 to 15 per trip in the 2 to 4lb range and even some channel cats in the 4 to 5lb range!! Where can I upload my photos!!

Remember the game and fish don\'t want catch and release on strippers. Take all of them with you. They are great eating, very mild not fishy at all if prepared right. In my family we like them breaded with zanatrans fish fry found in any store and fried in a little peanut oil. We like to fillet thems.

"Knocked Em Dead! My Borther and I caught 63 Striper last night just within a half mile of the boat launch! 10+ were in the 3-5 lb range. Caught and released most. Did bring a few home that swallowed the hooks. Will be my first time eating Striper tonight, wish me luck. Only our second time out on the lake, but we seem to have found a pattern. We used sumbrsible lights right off the side of the boat, starting at sunset. Plankton, minnows and shad were circling light within the hour. Surrounded by baitfish, we used Big Toe size chunks of anchovies on bait hooks with a carolina rig. Sink your rig straight down until you hit bottom, and then begin a slow rise until you find the depth where they are suspending. Fast action from there on out. Very light bite. Must keep slack out of your line or you'lll lose your bait in a second. Have to be ready to set the hook on first strike. Please consider future fishing in the lake! I have 2 boys 3 & 5yrs, lets keep our lake full of fish and throw back those lunkers for future generations! Support Catch and release! Cheers! Corona Bob Shannon"

"Went fishing on northwest cove yesterday. Fish didn't seem to be biting at all even though they were very active after dark. Tried using spinners, crankbait, worms, and anchovies. Few nibbles and nothing caught. Oh well. Try again another day."

Lake Pleasant Solar and Lunar Conditions
Current Lunar Fishing Tip:
The affects of the moon on freshwater fish and game are at a minimum right now. There will be another full moon coming up here in a few days. The fisherman should never use this as an excuse to not get on the water. The affects of the moon can only enhance the outcome of a day's fishing not decrease potential catch for today. On days without the new or full moon, all other factors including weather, barometric pressure, wind and cloud cover will make up today's equation for success.
