Beaver Lake:Northwest Arkansas abounds with a diversity of fishing opportunities. Beaver Lake has more than 28,000 surface acres of water. Just below the dam, the bone-chilling waters of the upper White River provides perfect habitat for pole-bending rainbow and record-size German brown trout. The lake itself provides year-round fishing pleasure for adventurous anglers who can try their luck at catching large and small-mouth bass, crappie, bream, white bass, stripers, and channel or spoon-bill catfish. Each year, millions of fingerling game fish from the Blackburn Creek Nursery Pond are released into the clear, blue waters by the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission. The first on-site rearing pond in this area, the Blackburn Creek Pond, is the workplace for fishery biologists and other specialists in the field who work hard to keep Beaver Lake in the forefront of fish production. - Crappie are holding close to main lake coves. I have also found them on main lake points around 10 to 13 feet. They are holding close to rip rap and isolated stumps in flat regions. Main colors are solid white or chartruse.
Crappie Tips for Current Conditions (automated):
Crappie fishing is sometimes at its best with the water temperature down this low. Crappie will be in large schools and follow the large shad schools around in extremely deep water. Find the deepest parts of your lake in old river channels and scan your graph for schooling shad. When you find the school, drop your plastics or live bait down to the bottom of the shad and get ready. Many crappie fishermen will be catching awesome numbers and size of fish this time of year. If you are brave enough to get out on the water this time when the water temperature is this cold, it can really pay off. Be careful out there, remember to boat safely. Never take any chances at these temperatures.

- Walleye are not an easy catch, but this time of year they become a little more predictable. Find a school
of baitfish in 20-30 FOW and look for a telltale walleye arc or "christmas tree" below and you have found a
school of feeding eyes.

Lead core line and the silver river rockers have been good, wiggle warts, and pointer minnows too.

If you can't mark any that way, work brush piles in 20-30 FOW with a Silver or gold Spoon, a Sonar or a

Catfish Tips for Current Conditions (automated):
The catfish family comprises of blue catfish, flathead catfish and channel catfish. Since catfish are warm water fish, they arenít going to be very active in this water temperature. They will still be feeding, but catfish will only be found very deep and feeding very slowly. Your best bet is give some of the more active fish species in your lake a shot until the cats are active again.

Beaver Lake Solar and Lunar Conditions
Current Lunar Fishing Tip:
New Moon fishing can be at its best. The gravitational pull on the earth is at its peak when the moon and sun are rising and setting at the same time of day. This combination can generate extraordinary fishing opportunities especially if combined with perfect weather variances. The new moon may have the fish extremely aggressive and actively hunting for food. Try fishing a little faster today and with several different baits and techniques. When fish are more aggressive, its always fun to fish a little more aggressive. Watch the peak fishing times and make sure you are on the water during that part of the day to take full advantage of today?s solar/lunar peaks. Have a great day!
