my partner and i have fished moomaw all december typically this time of year the bass tend to be rather deep although we have found just the opposite to be true we have caught a 19.9 best 5 a 19.7 a 23.13 and a 21.4 which had a 7lb 4oz so just because the water and air temps. are falling dont let that keep you off the water right now are some of the best fishing times i have ever experienced

Went out to moomaw for the weekend of APR 23-24. The water was extremely rough and there was a large amount of timber washed into the lake from the Jackson. Weather was pretty bad for fishing however, we did manage to land a citation chain pickerel. That was the only fish all weekend due to the bad conditions. All in all the lake rose about 6 feet overnight! Almost got wet in my tent!

The water level is quickly rising with the recent rains and with the forecast projecting heavy rain mid-week the lake should be close to full pond by the end of the weekend. It is currently about 13 feet below full pond. The trout fishing has been great lately especially near the dam. Good luck!! Spring is just around the corner :)

The affects of the moon on freshwater fish and game are at a minimum right now. There will be another full moon coming up here in a few days. The fisherman should never use this as an excuse to not get on the water. The affects of the moon can only enhance the outcome of a day's fishing not decrease potential catch for today. On days without the new or full moon, all other factors including weather, barometric pressure, wind and cloud cover will make up today's equation for success.
