Largemouth bass fishing is going to be slow with the water temperature at 48 degrees. If you have a chance to get out on the water, you are going to have to fish deep and slow. Jig fishing and Plastic baits may be your best bet this time of year for largemouth bass. You may also try fishing some sinking jerk baits.

their temp is off bass already moving shallow ;caught 3 females last week 2 that were over 5 and one over 10 fishing in 4 to 5 feet of water.water is warm in protected areas with plenty of sunshine. but you still need to fish slowly.

Went out early Tuesday morning Jan 2nd. It was 28 degrees F and I kept having to scrape ice off of
my rod's eyelets. Managed to land 2 LMB just after sunup on Texas rigged Mann's 10' Jelly Worms.

Crappie fishing is sometimes at its best with the water temperature down this low. Crappie will be in large schools and follow the large shad schools around in extremely deep water. Find the deepest parts of your lake in old river channels and scan your graph for schooling shad. When you find the school, drop your plastics or live bait down to the bottom of the shad and get ready. Many crappie fishermen will be catching awesome numbers and size of fish this time of year. If you are brave enough to get out on the water this time when the water temperature is this cold, it can really pay off. Be careful out there, remember to boat safely. Never take any chances at these temperatures.

The catfish family comprises of blue catfish, flathead catfish and channel catfish. Since catfish are warm water fish, they aren’t going to be very active in this water temperature. They will still be feeding, but catfish will only be found very deep and feeding very slowly. Your best bet is give some of the more active fish species in your lake a shot until the cats are active again.

June 16, 2011 (2:00pm), went fishing with my daughter and I caught a good size Crappie(w/lipless crankbait) on the right side before the the long cove near an opening at the shoreline where the grass sits tall on the shoreline into the water. The weather was extremely hot and very windy. Too late in the day to catch anything descent. No bites other than that!

"fish here often , usually average 3 to 5 bass few of those average keeper size and up ! great lake put your time in and you will connect with some healthy fighting fish ! and yes take a camera so that fish can beef up in weight for you next time ..."

"Just took a casual trip to Boerne lake (4/11/10) for a couple hours. Caught a 14 incher on my second cast along the riprap, on a bass-pattern husky jerk. Caught a couple more later on a Gulp 7-inch turtle back worm, unweighted. I'll put my canoe in next time, fish seem to be getting more active."

"I went to Boerne lake 2/13/10 and checked the water temperture with an Aquaview in the middle of the lake, at 20 feet deep the temp was 48 degrees at surface it was 49 degrees at 4:30 pm cst. We caught six small LMB on worms. Your estimated water temp seems to be accurate."
