Largemouth Bass Tips for Current Conditions:
Largemouth bass fishing is going to be slow with the water temperature at 50 degrees. If you have a chance to get out on the water, you are going to have to fish deep and slow. Jig fishing and Plastic baits may be your best bet this time of year for largemouth bass. You may also try fishing some sinking jerk baits.

I spent 3 days on Center Hill last week with success each day catching fish relating to the minnow balls on spoons and drop shots. I have been finding fish in the middle to backs of the creeks in 25-35 ft of water. I have mainly focused on clear water as it helps the fish to locate the baits. I have some days available and the fishing has been really solid, check me out at www.adamsguidesvc.com or give me a call at 616-829-3902

Friday April 6 Today I went to Center Hill with Derrick Elgin from Murfreesboro. Derrick has a tournament coming up next week and he booked a trip for pre-fishing. I heard there was a good Friday tournament on the lake and asked Derrick if he wanted to fish it since we were already there, he said sure so we went. We left out of ragland and headed towards the dam to catch some smallmouths and spots. We hit several areas and caught quite a few fish but all were just short largemouths and smallmouths, we did catch a couple of keepers as well. We then moved back to the mid-lake area and fished an area I had been catching some largemouth bass. We immediately caught a solid keeper and then managed to catch a couple of big fish over 5lbs. We caught our limit there and culled a couple of times. We ended up with 4 largemouth and 1 spot. When we went to weigh-in we were surprised to see some smaller weights, and we ended up winning it with 17lbs. It was a lot of fun and we had a great time. We caught our fish on jigs, crankbaits, carolina rigs and spinnerbaits. I still have days open in April and May be sure to setup your trip soon. Wednesday March 7 I had a trip on Center Hill today with Brian and Adam from Cookeville TN. We met at Sligo Marina and started our day throwing jerkbaits. Water color in this area of the lake is extremely clear with visibility in the 6-8ft range. Water temps were 51.5-52. We fished hard for several hours and caught 1 small fish and broke 3 others off on jigs. I then moved us into the mid-lake area and we began looking for some color in the water. We found some and immediately began catching solid largemouths and spots cranking 6-9ft areas. We focused alot on the use of electronics and I went through what to look for and how to determine what we were looking at on our units. I tried to ensure that next trip that Brian and Adam make will be productive and more successful with the use of the tool they have in their electronics. Brian, Adam I had a great time, looking forward to our next trip. If you want to learn more about your electronic equipment and how to better utilize it to catch fish, book a trip with me and I will show you how. I will be posting again tomorrow from Center Hill. www.adamsguidesvc.com

Saturday Feb 18 Center Hill was our destination today, with our focus on developing a pattern and working to eliminate water. I fished with Rik who is a regular client. Our plan started with working the creeks and small tributaries to try and find some largemouth bass. We did catch a few but it wasn't the dominant pattern. We then shifted gears and took into account what we had seen on the water and what we were seeing on the graph and went from there. We made some small changes and started to catch some fish, I lost a pretty large fish on a Bandit 300 series, then began catching them on assorted jerkbaits. We had cloud cover roll in and the wind picked up stimulating the fish and pushing the shad against points. We moved around and were able to catch several nice fish and some small fish while working this pattern. It was fun to work with Rik on this skill set and great to see him develop our pattern from what were seeing. I look forward to our next trip in March, thanks for a great day on the water. Center Hill Lake Crappie Tips: [ Add Tip ]
Crappie Tips for Current Conditions:
Crappie fishing is sometimes at its best with the water temperature down this low. Crappie will be in large schools and follow the large shad schools around in extremely deep water. Find the deepest parts of your lake in old river channels and scan your graph for schooling shad. When you find the school, drop your plastics or live bait down to the bottom of the shad and get ready. Many crappie fishermen will be catching awesome numbers and size of fish this time of year. If you are brave enough to get out on the water this time when the water temperature is this cold, it can really pay off. Be careful out there, remember to boat safely. Never take any chances at these temperatures.

"Crappie fishing very slow. Lake water muddy and water level still low due to Army Corps Dam project. Very little brush in the water to fish. 5 guys caught about 50 crappie in 5 days. Crappie caught were around boat docks in 3 to 10 foot of water suspended in 13 to 35 ft of water. Locals said the lake is turning over and fishing will be slow for a while. Brown and Rainbow Trout being caught in big numbers below the dam in tail waters on jigging spoons, minnows and wigglers. We did manage to catch a number of fat spotted bass while casting small crank baits and beetle spins for crappie. We put in 9 to 12 hrs a day on the water fishing hard with very little to show for our efforts, except for the dam fishing for trout the last day. We fished April 20-25."

Walleye Tips for Current Conditions:
The walleye spawn is in full swing now. With Walleye spawning grounds generally on gravel and rocky bottoms and preferring clean water. Try throwing reaction type baits up in the shallows. Rip-Rap, damns, rocky bottom points are perfect to hit. Try fishing some faster crank baits and spinners this time of year. As always fall back to the standard walleye fishing tactics, but it won?t hurt bringing out the bass gear in search for spawning walleyes. In this water temperature, always be safe on the water.

Catfish Tips for Current Conditions:
The catfish family comprises of blue catfish, flathead catfish and channel catfish. Since catfish are warm water fish, they aren’t going to be very active in this water temperature. They will still be feeding, but catfish will only be found very deep and feeding very slowly. Your best bet is give some of the more active fish species in your lake a shot until the cats are active again.

- striped bass seem to be hitting pretty aggressively toward higher action bait such
as crank baits and twist tails im finding that for crank baits darker colors produce very aggressive bites and with your twist tail chartreuse and white are
very popular best to keep bass gear handy just in case minnows work great as well

Spotted bass are hammering slow rolled spinnerbaits and chatterbaits on shaded bluffs. Tuck in tight to the bluff and cast parallel to the bluff trolling at a fast pace. Good way to cover a lot of water. Some small mouth are being caught this way as well.

Center Hill Lake Solar and Lunar Conditions
Current Lunar Fishing Tip:
The affects of the moon on freshwater fish and game are at a minimum right now. There will be another full moon coming up here in a few days. The fisherman should never use this as an excuse to not get on the water. The affects of the moon can only enhance the outcome of a day's fishing not decrease potential catch for today. On days without the new or full moon, all other factors including weather, barometric pressure, wind and cloud cover will make up today's equation for success.
