The fish are really turned on at Skiatook. Shorter days and cooler water temperatures have triggered a feeding frenzy at Skiatook. The fish are trying their best to put on body fat to make it through ... [more]

- Caught two nice bass 14" & 16" using a Rattletrap lure on 8/18/10. Was told that walleye were hitting on weighted Rapallas but didn't get any myself while trolling with Erie Dearies w/ nightcrawler

Largemouth Bass Tips for Current Conditions (automated):
With Pymatuning Reservoir at 54 degree water temperature this is a great time to get out on the water and try hitting some deeper primary and secondary points. Largemouth bass will be feeding at this water temperature but will be much harder to catch. On Sunny warm afternoons its a great time to throw a crank bait, jigs or slow roll a spinnerbait at 5-10 foot on sunny points and drops off of sunny flats. Largemouth Bass will move into warm water on warm sunny days.

Pymatuning Reservoir Crappie Tips: [ Add Tip ]
- Fished the stump area near the boat launch of Linesville Marina. Water temp was
around 60 degrees. Got on the water at 3:00 P.M. Nice sunny day. No rain. Light
breeze. Had to paddle the power boat about 100 yards from the marina before
being able to use the motor. I wish we had a trolling motor. Water level was
over 5 feet low. Was in 2 ft of water for about 100 yards out from the marina.
Weeds kept tangling the prop. Started to catch Crappie in 6 to 8 feet of water
with shiners and a 1/4 oz weight about 2 feet from the hook. Not too productive
of a day. Was able to keep one nice 2 lb.+ crappie. Used worms with no luck.
Also shallow diving jointed Rapala\'s in perch and fire tigre colors. Still no
luck. Saw one fisherman on lake in a John boat near us. Lake was very calm. Left
for the marina at 6:30 p.m. 200 ft from the boat launch, threw in a large silver
Zara Spook and worked the surface for about 20 minutes. Got some big strikes off
the surface but nothing caught. Lot\'s of minnows jumping wildly on the surface.
Lot\'s of surface action. Will try the Dam next week. My buddy fished the Dam
last week and caught 5 2-3 lb. perch. Nice keepers. Fished sunken humps about 20
ft. deep with shiners and jig rig.

I\'ll report back next week on our progress. I hope the lake recovers from it\'s
low levels by next Spring. The stump area is a very productive area for Walleye
and Musky in the Spring and mid-summer months.

Peace out and happy fishing everyone. :)

Crappie Tips for Current Conditions (automated):
The crappie fishing should be getting good to great now. Crappie function excellent in 54 degree water. Crappie will be nicely bunched up still and moving more aggresively than when the water temperature is in the 35 to 50 degree range. With baitfish getting more active, the crappie fishing will be good. Good luck today!

Pymatuning Reservoir Catfish Tips: [ Add Tip ]
Catfish Tips for Current Conditions (automated):
The catfish family comprises of blue catfish, flathead catfish and channel catfish. Since catfish are warm water fish, they arenít going to be very active in this water temperature. They will still be feeding, but catfish will only be found very deep and feeding very slowly. Your best bet is give some of the more active fish species in your lake a shot until the cats are active again.

Pymatuning Reservoir Solar and Lunar Conditions
Current Lunar Fishing Tip:
The affects of the moon on freshwater fish and game are at a minimum right now. There will be another full moon coming up here in a few days. The fisherman should never use this as an excuse to not get on the water. The affects of the moon can only enhance the outcome of a day's fishing not decrease potential catch for today. On days without the new or full moon, all other factors including weather, barometric pressure, wind and cloud cover will make up today's equation for success.
