Catfish Tips for Current Conditions:
The catfish family comprises of blue catfish, flathead catfish and channel catfish. Since catfish are warm water fish, they arenít going to be very active in this water temperature. They will still be feeding, but catfish will only be found very deep and feeding very slowly. Your best bet is give some of the more active fish species in your lake a shot until the cats are active again.

"I went solo on April 24, 2009 for channel catfish. I was able to fish 4 hours and caught 8 of 11 bites. The stringer weighed 27 lb 10 oz. The three biggest were 3.5 lb, 5 lb and 10 lb 2 oz. It was a great day to be on the lake!"

"My daughter and I fished for 3 hours for catfish and picked up one small bullhead. I know it is early and the water is cold but the only way to catch one is to get your line in the water. Early summer and early fall fishing for cats here is pretty good. Our three biggest in 2008 were 7lb 4oz, 7lb 12oz and 9lb 6oz. All caught by my daughter, each on a different day. Many channel cats 2-3lb were caught too."
