"Went out yesterday July 15th. Fished from shore line at chapel cover. Fish turned on at around 6:30. Hooked into 3 largemouth 10-14"". Had something big snap my line. Felt like a lunker. Saw some big ones jumping at dragon flies. Caught all fish on carlonia rigged 6"" Senkos (Pumpkin with black and green flecks and black with gold flecks). All fish hit in or right on the edge of weedbeds. They are in there. I think a shiner pattern would be deadly."

Full moon today...good morning for bass fishing. Caught 2 nice largemouth past the third bridge. Hydrilla plants are very thick and makes fishing difficult in the shallow cove areas on the lake. The cove to the right of the 1st bridge produced some nice crappie bass and a few largemouth. Caught all 10 fish on rubber lures.

Smallmouth bass fishing is going to be slow with the water temperature at 48 degrees. It's time to fish deep and slow. Try some deep primary points, drop offs, and old river channels with rocks. Jigs, plastics and deep jerk baits will be your best bet to boat a smallmouth.

Lake Marburg Crappie Tips: [ Add Tip ]
Crappie Tips for Current Conditions:
Crappie fishing is sometimes at its best with the water temperature down this low. Crappie will be in large schools and follow the large shad schools around in extremely deep water. Find the deepest parts of your lake in old river channels and scan your graph for schooling shad. When you find the school, drop your plastics or live bait down to the bottom of the shad and get ready. Many crappie fishermen will be catching awesome numbers and size of fish this time of year. If you are brave enough to get out on the water this time when the water temperature is this cold, it can really pay off. Be careful out there, remember to boat safely. Never take any chances at these temperatures.

- go somewhere else. this lake is terrible since them white perch were put in. white perch are only good for the garden.

Walleye Tips for Current Conditions:
The walleye spawn is in full swing now. With Walleye spawning grounds generally on gravel and rocky bottoms and preferring clean water. Try throwing reaction type baits up in the shallows. Rip-Rap, damns, rocky bottom points are perfect to hit. Try fishing some faster crank baits and spinners this time of year. As always fall back to the standard walleye fishing tactics, but it won?t hurt bringing out the bass gear in search for spawning walleyes. In this water temperature, always be safe on the water.

Catfish Tips for Current Conditions:
The catfish family comprises of blue catfish, flathead catfish and channel catfish. Since catfish are warm water fish, they aren’t going to be very active in this water temperature. They will still be feeding, but catfish will only be found very deep and feeding very slowly. Your best bet is give some of the more active fish species in your lake a shot until the cats are active again.

Spotted Bass Tips for Current Conditions:
With Lake Marburg at 48 degree water temperature this is a great time to get out on the water and try hitting some deeper primary and secondary points. Spotted bass will be feeding at this water temperature but will be much harder to catch. On Sunny warm afternoons its a great time to throw a crank bait, jigs or slow roll a spinnerbait at 5-10 foot on sunny points and drops off of sunny flats. Spottted Bass will move into warm water on warm sunny days.

Wife and I fished around 3rd bridge and marburg flats for a couple hours at dusk. No bites. Trolled with 3 hook jig & spoon rig with worms for perch, also used top water rapala and deep diving rapala for bass. Marburg flat is really grown thick with weeds. Couldn't even catch minnows with minnow trap & bread. Will try again this weekend. Any tips?

Ended the day with the three of us boating 121 white perch with a lot of those in the 10""+ size range. Seems they aren't schooled up big like they were a couple of weeks ago, but the bite is still good."

Lake Marburg Solar and Lunar Conditions
Current Lunar Fishing Tip:
Full Moon fishing can be at its best. The gravitational pull on the earth is at its peak when the moon and sun are rising and setting at opposite times of the day. This combination can generate extraordinary fishing opportunities especially if combined with perfect weather variances. The full moon may have the fish extremely aggressive and actively hunting for food. Try fishing a little faster today and with several different baits and techniques. When fish are more aggressive, it?s always fun to fish a little more aggressive. Watch the peak fishing times and make sure you are on the water during that part of the day to take full advantage of today's solar/lunar peaks. Full moon days can be great fishing. Good luck today!
