- Crappie bite in the channels has been good. Fish 2-10' from bank around docks, brush, submerged logs. 1.5 inch crappie tubes, stingers, and grubs all work well fished 14-20" under a bobber. Add a wax worm if you want but not needed. Use same strategy fishing with minnows.

Crappie will be coming off of the spawn now. Fish will be feeding much more aggressively making up for lost time eating during the spawn. Crappies are still being taken shallow. 9\" min size limit at GLSM. The current class of crappies is best in years with most fish in 9.5-10.5\" range. Expect 60% of catch to be keepers. Small jigs (1/16 oz) under a bobber are most popular with small plastics such as tubes, stingers, curly tails....almost any small creature bait can attract crappies. Fish mornings and evening for best results. Water temps above 80 degrees will defintely diminish the bite.

This is the water temperature of choice for walleye. They are feeding well and moving in patterns that should be fairly easy to pick up and capitalize on today. The water temperature is climbing and the catfish will start becoming more active now. The catfish spawn is right around the corner and generally all catfish species will be looking to spawn. Blue catfish, flathead and channel catfish spawn in much the same areas. Mostly spawning in deep tree lay downs that have lots of shade, holes in the bank, sunken barrels and tires.
