Tuckertown Reservoir Crappie Tips: [ Add Tip ]
Crappie Tips for Current Conditions:
Crappie fishing is sometimes at its best with the water temperature down this low. Crappie will be in large schools and follow the large shad schools around in extremely deep water. Find the deepest parts of your lake in old river channels and scan your graph for schooling shad. When you find the school, drop your plastics or live bait down to the bottom of the shad and get ready. Many crappie fishermen will be catching awesome numbers and size of fish this time of year. If you are brave enough to get out on the water this time when the water temperature is this cold, it can really pay off. Be careful out there, remember to boat safely. Never take any chances at these temperatures.

The catfish family comprises of blue catfish, flathead catfish and channel catfish. Since catfish are warm water fish, they aren’t going to be very active in this water temperature. Water Temperature:
Put in at the landing on 49 and fished the lake off to the right fishing topwater. I got four bass, all about 15" - 16" long and missed one. They all ranged from about 2 lbs. and down. After fileting, I noticed the egg development and from what I saw, they are still a good week or two away from getting on the beds. So, with that in mind, the females will still be actively feeding before the actual spawn and over the next two weeks should be prime for either running spinners and hitting topwater. Hope this helps and tight lines everyone!

Tuckertown Reservoir Solar and Lunar Conditions
Current Lunar Fishing Tip:
The affects of the moon on freshwater fish and game are at a minimum right now. There will be another full moon coming up here in a few days. The fisherman should never use this as an excuse to not get on the water. The affects of the moon can only enhance the outcome of a day's fishing not decrease potential catch for today. On days without the new or full moon, all other factors including weather, barometric pressure, wind and cloud cover will make up today's equation for success.
