Wiest Lake Largemouth Bass Tips: [ Add Tip ]
- This is Billy and judy we stay at Wiest lake a lot, nice camping at this lake.
The park rangers are verry friendly.
Any way I have cought some verry big large mouth bass in Wiest lake.
Drop shot fishing with a purple 6 to 8 in. worm works best.
A few lures work along the dock that dvides the swimming part from the
main lake.
Some rooster tails work but not all ways.
This is a heavly fished lake, lots of people here on the weakends.
Largemouth Bass Tips for Current Conditions (automated):
Largemouth bass fishing is going to be pretty slow at 89 degree water temperature. Bass will start moving much slower and feeding less aggressively until the water temperature starts to get back down to comfortable levels. When the water temperature is up this high, it's time to get out fishing early and late in the day when the sun is not on the water. When you can get out for the entire day, it's a great time to fish some deeper water. Many large bass are taken this time of year since bass fishermen typically gets out deeper and fish slower with larger baits. Like any other time of year, the slower you fish with bigger baits on the deep drops and river channels, the better chance you have at a lunker. This is a great time to catch a trophy. Good luck out there today!

Wiest Lake Crappie Tips: [ Add Tip ]
- Billy and judy again, Croppie fishing is best around the dock, try to cast
under the dock for best results, small white curly tail jigs, nightcrowlers
also work.
the big ones are under the dock.
Millworms also work.
Crappie Tips for Current Conditions (automated):
Your lake crappie will be much more lethargic in the water temperature. They will be in deeper and cooler water. Crappie will be feeding; however they will not be feeding aggressively unless the other fishing factors are at prime levels. Find some moving water that is clear and you should find some more aggressive fishing.

Wiest Lake Catfish Tips: [ Add Tip ]
- No night fishing from a boat on Wiest lake,
I realy don't know why.
Yes there is catfish here try fishing from the boatramp late afternoon.
This is where most catfish are cought in the lake.
Hotdogs,millworms,nightcrowlers,chickenlivers,just about any thing goes
with catfish.
Billy and Judy.
Catfish Tips for Current Conditions (automated):
Catfish will be more active than most other species in the lake. However they will be feeding much slower due to the lake having less oxygen and less healthy than when the water temperature is a little cooler. Donít throw in the towel, your monster catfish may be waiting for you. As always the best time to go fishing is every time you can go fishing. Good luck!

- Billy here, there are stripers in Wiest lake, and I hear of 20+lbs being

The broblem is how to lure em in they are so well fed here from the
bluegills and trout it's hard to get em to take bait.
Try a trout look alike lure??

- Trout in Wiest lake is seasonal, best time is when the water cools way down.
Fish and game will stock a lot of trout in the winter here a Wiest lake.
Catching trout at this lake is easy, power bait, last year it was rainbow
colors of this bait worked best with a cheese smell.
And yes I do have my favorite way of catching trout.
Think verry thin line no.6 hook and a nice nightcrowler.

Wiest Lake Solar and Lunar Conditions
Current Lunar Fishing Tip:
The crescent moon will have better gravitational pull than a gibbous or half moon. However the affects of the moons gravitational will be decreased since the sun and moon aren't pulling in conjunction with one another. It's time to pay close attention to the other fishing factors in the weather to make the best decision for hitting the water.
