Lake Massapoag is predominatly spring fed with the exception of several runoff tributaries entering the Lake. There is a 40 foot hole and several 30 to 35 foot holes however most of the fish are caught in the 10 to 15 foot range and along the shallows. There are numerous species in the lake including; Largemouth, smallmouth and Calico bass,White and Yellow perch, panfish, catfish, several species of state stocked Trout, Pickerel, eels and golden shiners. There are no walleye or striped bass in the lake as depicted below.
There is a state Ramp located at the northeast corner of the lake. Launching is free however a town issued permit is required to park in the boat launch area. Free parking is avaiable at the high school about a quarter mile away. There is a strictly enforced 60HP max allowed on the lake. Boats are checked for evasive weeds on the Hulls as well as trailers. Local harbormaster does regular saftey and equipment checks and paperwork checks as well, so be prepared.
