Caddo Lake General Information

Caddo Lake Dam was originally constructed as a feature of the Cypress Bayou and Waterway Navigation Project. The Cypress Bayou and Waterway Navigation Project runs between Jefferson, Texas and Shreveport, Louisiana. The current dam was constructed as a modification to provide for water supply and recreation. Caddo Lake Dam was completed in June 1971. The Caddo Lake dam is 1,225 feet long with a height of 40 feet at 176.0 mean sea level. There are five major features of this project: an earth fill dam, a concrete spillway, an earth fill dike, a concrete control structure, as well as an outlet channel. The Recreation opportunities for visitors at Caddo Lake are numerous thanks to the many privately owned recreational businesses such as restaurants, site seeing tours, and marinas. Additionally several Louisiana parishes operate parks on the lake as well as the State of Texas. The Corps of Engineers operates a day use recreation area located just below Caddo Lake Dam near the outlet channel. [Caddo Lake. www.nwk.usace.army.mil, 01/26/2008]

Current Lunar Fishing Tip:
The crescent moon will have better gravitational pull than a gibbous or half moon. However the affects of the moons gravitational will be decreased since the sun and moon aren't pulling in conjunction with one another. Caddo Lake Water Temperature
Estimated Current Caddo Lake Water Temperature:
65°
What's This
Spotted Bass
In the 65 degrees range, spotted bass are generally their most active at this water temperature. Baitfish are much more active in this water temperature and the spotted bass will be feeding aggressively throughout the day.

Sauger
This is the water temperature of choice for sauger. They are feeding well and moving in patterns that should be fairly easy to pick up and capitalize on today. Baitfish are not at the peak of activity but they will be in good supply in the deeper water. The lake is really turning on this time of year and the fish should be biting well.

Walleye
This is the water temperature of choice for walleye. They are feeding well and moving in patterns that should be fairly easy to pick up and capitalize on today. Baitfish are not at the peak of activity but they will be in good supply in the deeper water. The lake is really turning on this time of year and the fish should be biting well.

Caddo Lake Current Weather
Temperature: 61

Barometric Pressure: 30.08 (High)
A high barometric pressure system is sitting over the lake. Fish will be heading to deeper water, or they will tuck away in cover. With the pressure high, it will be little more challenging to coax them to bite. Your best bet is to take the opportunity to go for a little larger fish. Don’t fish for quantity; it’s time to go for the trophy. Slow down your lures and presentation and get out in deeper water using your favorite plastics, worms, jigs, and finesse baits. With high barometric pressure on your lake, slow down that deep diving crank bait or grab your jerk bait and pause it a little longer.

Wind Speed: East at 05 Knots (6 MPH)
