Fishing Rating: 2
Water Temperature:
Too Many Carp are starting to infest this lake. I use to fish this lake about 10 -15 years ago, and it was excellent for Walleye. I just got back from a 5 day fishing trip at Castle Rock flowage today. Over fishing, and the vast abundance of Carp and Bullhead have made it so catching a walleye or northern is very rare now. If you do happen to catch a Walleye, it will be under 15 inches. Your better off traveling a little north, to other lakes, for better walleye fishing.

Largemouth Bass Tips for Current Conditions (automated):
Largemouth bass fishing is in full spawn now the water temperature has climbed up to 65 degrees. The large female bass will be on the beds and holding tight. Spawning bass won't be feeding aggressively at this water temperature but they will be catchable. In addition, all bass don't spawn at the exact same time or water temperature. If you aren't a site fisherman, you should be able to find some larger females and male largemouth on the standard spring patterns. Female bass will really start to slow down on feeding so fishing is going to be slower for a few weeks until they move into active patterns again.

Crappie Tips for Current Conditions (automated):
Crappie will be coming off of the spawn now. Fish will be feeding much more aggressively making up for lost time eating during the spawn. Crappie will start moving back to their typical structure of choice and should be getting into schools again in the old river channels. It?s time to hit the water. Have fun today!
Castle Rock Lake Walleye Rating:

Walleye Tips for Current Conditions (automated):
This is the water temperature of choice for walleye. They are feeding well and moving in patterns that should be fairly easy to pick up and capitalize on today. Baitfish are not at the peak of activity but they will be in good supply in the deeper water. The lake is really turning on this time of year and the fish should be biting well.
Castle Rock Lake Catfish Rating:
3.5
Castle Rock Lake Catfish Tips: [ Add Tip ]
- Good cats at dam during the summer

Catfish Tips for Current Conditions (automated):
The water temperature is climbing and the catfish will start becoming more active now. The catfish spawn is right around the corner and generally all catfish species will be looking to spawn. Blue catfish, flathead and channel catfish spawn in much the same areas. Mostly spawning in deep tree lay downs that have lots of shade, holes in the bank, sunken barrels and tires. With baitfish becoming active, it?s time to catch some small sunfish, bluegill, shad and frogs and getting the line in the water.
