General Lake Lewisville Informatoin:

Lake Lewisville is also called Lake Dallas.

The lake is very close to Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex, just north of the city.  During the peak seasons, lake Lewisville can become extremely crowded. For a number of years Lewisville Lake was ranked the most dangerous lake in Texas due to the number of accidents and fatalities which occurred.  However, the number of boating accidents on the lake is low. Lake Dallas contains a lot of dangerous shallow areas of the lake with exposed and submerged trunks and other water hazards, this proves to be extremely dangerous for boats and other watercraft.

- I have been killing it using plastic worms at night all week. Fishing during the day has been slower, and need to stick casts closer to cover. During the showers we have had this week, I have been getting bit every other cast after the sun has been down for a couple hours. Using Watermelon Red Flake color.

Largemouth Bass Tips for Current Conditions (automated):
Largemouth bass fishing is going to be slow with the water temperature at 52 degrees. If you have a chance to get out on the water, you are going to have to fish deep and slow. Jig fishing and Plastic baits may be your best bet this time of year for largemouth bass. You may also try fishing some sinking jerk baits.

- State fish and wildlife says smallmouth don't exist in Lewisville. Spots and largemouth only. Who is correct here?
Smallmouth Bass Tips for Current Conditions (automated):
With Lewisville Lake at 52 degree water temperature this is a great time to get out on the water and try hitting some deeper primary and secondary points. Smallmouth bass will be feeding at this water temperature but will be much harder to catch. On Sunny warm afternoons its a great time to throw a crank bait, jigs or slow roll a spinnerbait at 5-10 foot on sunny points and drops off of sunny flats. Smallmouth Bass will move into warm water on warm sunny days.

Crappie Tips for Current Conditions (automated):
The crappie fishing should be getting good to great now. Crappie function excellent in 52 degree water. Crappie will be nicely bunched up still and moving more aggresively than when the water temperature is in the 35 to 50 degree range. With baitfish getting more active, the crappie fishing will be good. Good luck today!

- Live bait has been working. I have been using perch while drifting close to the lakeview marina in the deepest parts. I have also been testing the depths with live shad on a trot line and the cats are still feeding from top to bottom.
Catfish Tips for Current Conditions (automated):
The catfish family comprises of blue catfish, flathead catfish and channel catfish. Since catfish are warm water fish, they arenít going to be very active in this water temperature. They will still be feeding, but catfish will only be found very deep and feeding very slowly. Your best bet is give some of the more active fish species in your lake a shot until the cats are active again.

Lewisville Lake Solar and Lunar Conditions
Current Lunar Fishing Tip:
The affects of the moon on freshwater fish and game are at a minimum right now. There will be another full moon coming up here in a few days. The fisherman should never use this as an excuse to not get on the water. The affects of the moon can only enhance the outcome of a day's fishing not decrease potential catch for today. On days without the new or full moon, all other factors including weather, barometric pressure, wind and cloud cover will make up today's equation for success.
