Try fishing some pre spawn locations for largemouth bass. With water temperature at 39 find some flats with soft bottom at locations on Garner Lake that typically have vegetation during summer months. Try fishing spinner baits and work them slow up to the edge of the drop and bounce them down the face looking for staging largemouth bass. Jerkbaits and squarebill crankbaits can also deadly this time of year. Look for flats in the arms of the lake that have direct access to deep water and river channels.

Smallmouth bass fishing is going to be slow with the water temperature at 39 degrees. It's time to fish deep and slow. Try some deep primary points, drop offs, and old river channels with rocks. Jigs, plastics and deep jerk baits will be your best bet to boat a smallmouth.

Garner Lake Crappie Tips: [ Add Tip ]
Crappie Tips for Current Conditions (automated):
Crappie fishing is sometimes at its best with the water temperature down this low. Crappie will be in large schools and follow the large shad schools around in extremely deep water. Find the deepest parts of your lake in old river channels and scan your graph for schooling shad. When you find the school, drop your plastics or live bait down to the bottom of the shad and get ready. Many crappie fishermen will be catching awesome numbers and size of fish this time of year. If you are brave enough to get out on the water this time when the water temperature is this cold, it can really pay off. Be careful out there, remember to boat safely. Never take any chances at these temperatures.
Garner Lake Walleye Rating:

Garner Lake Walleye Tips: [ Add Tip ]

Walleye function very well in the colder water temperatures. Try fishing some open flats and definitely use live bait when the water temperature is this low. Plastics with scent added will also produce results, but nothing beats live bait for walleye.

- The catfish bite is still on!!! Don\'t overlook this time of year to go fishing for channel cats. Try drift fishing and let your boat drift with the current but also have your trolling motor to keep your boat in position catfish can be hard to locate during this time of year. Try to find some sort of deep water structure on the main lake and try to use small pieces of cut gizzard shad or bluegill for these finicky channel catfish.
Catfish Tips for Current Conditions (automated):
The catfish family comprises of blue catfish, flathead catfish and channel catfish. Since catfish are warm water fish, they arenít going to be very active in this water temperature. They will still be feeding, but catfish will only be found very deep and feeding very slowly. Your best bet is give some of the more active fish species in your lake a shot until the cats are active again.

Current Lunar Fishing Tip:

New Moon fishing can be at its best. The gravitational pull on the earth is at its peak when the moon and sun are rising and setting at the same time of day. This combination can generate extraordinary fishing opportunities especially if combined with perfect weather variances. The new moon may have the fish extremely aggressive and actively hunting for food. Try fishing a little faster today and with several different baits and techniques. When fish are more aggressive, its always fun to fish a little more aggressive. Watch the peak fishing times and make sure you are on the water during that part of the day to take full advantage of today?s solar/lunar peaks. Have a great day!
