Fishing is good. Stripers are scattered across the lake and are on the move from the creeks to main lake areas migrating toward the deeper water near the dam. Down rods fished 20 to 40 feet are very productive.

To do this add a fishing report below with the actual water temperature at this lake. Reported as 74*, I ran up and down the lake on Saturday and the actual temp was 63.9 for the average.

Be patient... Spring is around the corner and the fish will be moving shallow to spawn. The warmer weather will help bring the water temps up and get things rolling. Remember the surface temp currently is 52 to 54 degrees but the water down 20 feet is still cold and fish are a little sluggish. Slow down your presentation and use smaller baits.

Species: Striped Bass
Fishing Rating: 1
Water Temperature:
Fishing has been slow. Most of the fish and bait are up in the major creeks. Pulling bait on planer boards and pulling U-rigs have been the most effective. The warmer weather forecasted should help get the fish more active.

"March 18-20 I was fishing for 2 days about 4 or 5 hours a day it was a lake hartwell cabins and camping I was casting with fake minnows then fake worms then dough the husky jerk lure no fish! I person came in on a boat and caught a18"" white bass then he caught 2 carppie. And kids there were caching catfish with chicken liver so clearly I wasn't using the right bait for the right time of year."

- Bass are biting pretty good right now. Early in the morning is critical but fish main lake points and pockets with rocks. Later in the day find some rip rap or fish deeper points 30ft or so to get your kicker bass.

Fall Fishing Tip provided by Guide Chatt Martin: One tactic is all you need. Trolling. Get a pink or black colored crankbait that gets down 8-12 feet (I like Bandit 200 and 300 series crankbaits), and put it 80-100 feet behind a boat and drive that boat around in 8-12 feet of water pretty slow. 1.2-1.8 miles per hour seems to be the blessed speed. You will catch crappies, and you'll be surprised how many. This is a great tactic when you don't have a fishfinder.

Current Lunar Fishing Tip:

The crescent moon will have better gravitational pull than a gibbous or half moon. However the affects of the moons gravitational will be decreased since the sun and moon aren't pulling in conjunction with one another. It's time to pay close attention to the other fishing factors in the weather to make the best decision for hitting the water.
