Heyburn Lake was named after the community of Heyburn, a post office from 1911-1922, located near the place where the St. Louis-San Francisco Railroad crossed Polecat Creek. The project is located on Creek lands in the former Indian Territory. Many of the towns surrounding the project began as trading posts and developed as settlements as the railroads moved west. Lake Heyburn Walleye Tips: [ Add Tip ]
Walleye Tips for Current Conditions (automated):
Walleye will be starting to get a little slower in this water temperature. With walleye being a cold water fish, they will start becoming fairly lethargic in this water. With the fish slowing down the fishing will be more difficult to find and coax into biting. However they will be feeding and the walleye bite should still be good. This time of year is a good time to fall back to live bait as standard practice for the best bet at numbers and size of fish.

Lake Heyburn Solar and Lunar Conditions
Current Lunar Fishing Tip:
Full Moon fishing can be at its best. The gravitational pull on the earth is at its peak when the moon and sun are rising and setting at opposite times of the day. This combination can generate extraordinary fishing opportunities especially if combined with perfect weather variances. The full moon may have the fish extremely aggressive and actively hunting for food. Try fishing a little faster today and with several different baits and techniques. When fish are more aggressive, it?s always fun to fish a little more aggressive. Watch the peak fishing times and make sure you are on the water during that part of the day to take full advantage of today's solar/lunar peaks. Full moon days can be great fishing. Good luck today!
