Fished from shore today, targeted crappie. Used a Big Joshy swimbait on a 1/8 oz jig head. Ended up catching about a dozen black crappie & two small largemouth. All the crappie have beat up tails like on spawn beds. Fun day , all fish released.

Very minimal catfish activity right now too. Sat at the boat ramp in the campgrounds for 12 hours from 9 PM to 9 am on friday. Only a few hits not lands. We tried literally every bait possible. Chicken livers, shrimp, shiners, a live crawdad we caught, dough balls, and night crawlers. Also hit the damn two weeks ago for the deeper water and not even a hit. I know the big cats are there but will take another week or soo till they get really active. STICK TO THE SHALLOWS

Took out a bucket of minnows and caught dozen 9" plus keeper crappies. Had to cull may smaller ones but the fishing was good. Many bank fisherman are casting out to deep water but should be fishing crappie right next to the shore line.

Largemouth Bass Tips for Current Conditions (automated):
Largemouth bass fishing is going to be slow with the water temperature at 37 degrees. If you have a chance to get out on the water, you are going to have to fish deep and slow. Jig fishing and Plastic baits may be your best bet this time of year for largemouth bass. You may also try fishing some sinking jerk baits.

Nimisila Reservoir Crappie Tips: [ Add Tip ]
Crappie Tips for Current Conditions (automated):
Crappie fishing is sometimes at its best with the water temperature down this low. Crappie will be in large schools and follow the large shad schools around in extremely deep water. Find the deepest parts of your lake in old river channels and scan your graph for schooling shad. When you find the school, drop your plastics or live bait down to the bottom of the shad and get ready. Many crappie fishermen will be catching awesome numbers and size of fish this time of year. If you are brave enough to get out on the water this time when the water temperature is this cold, it can really pay off. Be careful out there, remember to boat safely. Never take any chances at these temperatures.

Nimisila Reservoir Walleye Tips: [ Add Tip ]
Walleye Tips for Current Conditions (automated):
Walleye function very well in the colder water temperatures. Try fishing some open flats and definitely use live bait when the water temperature is this low. Plastics with scent added will also produce results, but nothing beats live bait for walleye.

Catfish Tips for Current Conditions (automated):
The catfish family comprises of blue catfish, flathead catfish and channel catfish. Since catfish are warm water fish, they arenít going to be very active in this water temperature. They will still be feeding, but catfish will only be found very deep and feeding very slowly. Your best bet is give some of the more active fish species in your lake a shot until the cats are active again.

Current Lunar Fishing Tip:

New Moon fishing can be at its best. The gravitational pull on the earth is at its peak when the moon and sun are rising and setting at the same time of day. This combination can generate extraordinary fishing opportunities especially if combined with perfect weather variances. The new moon may have the fish extremely aggressive and actively hunting for food. Try fishing a little faster today and with several different baits and techniques. When fish are more aggressive, its always fun to fish a little more aggressive. Watch the peak fishing times and make sure you are on the water during that part of the day to take full advantage of today?s solar/lunar peaks. Have a great day!
