"crappies are starting to hit, water clearity is not good though. the fish are getting ready to spawn, but i don't think it is really on strong yet. If the temp climbs another 3 degrees and the clearity of the water gets better i think it will turn on like a switch. fish are being caught all through the lake right now north to south. the south end of the lake is less murky and has more visibility."
- 3300 acres of open, deep water. Eastern shore a bit shallower with shallow points protruding into the main lake. great for go-fasts, fishing and watersports if you can find flat water. live only 3 miles away and am on this lake alot. great Muskie fishing too.
- Bass pro teaser tube Texas rigged bounce it along the stumps/trees in the water to get the largemouth agitate.
Largemouth Bass Tips for Current Conditions (automated):
At 56 degree water temperature largemouth bass fishing is in pre-spawn now. It's time to get fishing. Female bass are going to be moving up to the spawning beds. Male largemouth bass will be starting to build the spawning nests in protected coves. Bass prefer to spawn in weedy and woody cover deep in coves that will be protected from the wind and other elements. This is the best time to catch the lake record bass. The female bass will be feeding until they reach the beds and start the spawn. The smaller male bass will be attacking lures also. It is on like donkey kong!!! Hit the water NOW, we can?t believe you are reading this and not fishing right now. GET OUT!!
- try the good old olentangy river in delaware I have been nailing them on 3 inch white rooster tails wit silver blades
Smallmouth Bass Tips for Current Conditions (automated):
With the water temperature at 56 degrees smallmouth bass fishing is ready to heat up for spring. The bass will be starting to move into their spawning area. Smallmouth bass will generally spawn on rock and gravel bottoms that are protected from the elements. It's time to get fishing and look for staging bass in deeper water.
- Crappie hot spots are easy: find a channel (preferably surrounded by trees). Find a downed tree or wooded cover. Throw a jig or a minnow. I went out this morning and they were biting too fast to run multiple lines. View Tip Location on Map
Crappie Tips for Current Conditions (automated):
Crappie should be getting ready to spawn. Stay out in deeper water and look for schools. Schooling shad will be harder to find with this water temperature so when you find it, stay on it. Crappie schools will be breaking up quite a bit getting ready for the spawn. Also try fishing shallower with small crank baits and spinners on the warm banks with direct sunlight. This is a great time to be on the water.
- If you troll along the road that goes under the lake near the bait store back and fourth you\'ll catch walleye\'s. depth finders make tracking the road easy. if your standing on the steps of the bait store the road blocked off to your left is the road that run under the lake surface. use of an eriederie has always been a good lure for me, dont forget the worm allthough i\'v seen it work with a minnow hooked through the lips.
View Tip Location on Map - Have caught two small walleyes in coves using nightcrawlers slowly retrieved near the bottom - 10-15 feet during August. View Tip Location on Map - Walleye still exist at Alum Creek. Caught 3 last fall, but they were tiny. Returned them to the Creek. If folks quit using the small ones for bait, more mature Walleye would be available to true fisherfolks.
Walleye Tips for Current Conditions (automated):
The walleye are coming off of the spawn now. Fish will be feeding very more aggressive making up for lost time eating during the spawn. Walleye will start moving back to their typical structure of choice and should be getting into the lake flats and deep structure. It?s time to hit the water. This may be the best water temperature to be on the water. There shouldn?t be too many fishermen on the water this early and there are many species that are hitting their prime water temperatures to be biting very well. Have fun today!
The catfish family comprises of blue catfish, flathead catfish and channel catfish. Since catfish are warm water fish, they arenít going to be very active in this water temperature. They will still be feeding, but catfish will only be found very deep and feeding very slowly. Your best bet is give some of the more active fish species in your lake a shot until the cats are active again.
Spotted Bass Tips for Current Conditions (automated):
Spotted bass fishing is ready to heat up for spring. The bass will be starting to move into their spawning area. Spotted bass will generally spawn on rock and gravel bottoms that are protected from the elements. It?s time to get fishing and look for staging bass in deeper water.
The crescent moon will have better gravitational pull than a gibbous or half moon. However the affects of the moons gravitational will be decreased since the sun and moon aren't pulling in conjunction with one another. It's time to pay close attention to the other fishing factors in the weather to make the best decision for hitting the water.
