down by 33 hole (the end of the lake basically), striper fishing fishing with live shad is fair to good, depending on the weather. most days we catch 25 3lb fish. we are using a casting net for the shad in the cove. Medium activity with boats (20 or less). Anchor up, have fun.. should be good through christmas

Species: Largemouth Bass
Fishing Rating: 1
Water Temperature: 55
With steady afternoon temps in the 60\'s the water has warmed up a bit. Caught 3 fish all shallow in the thickest cover you can find. Cold front this weekend will slow things down, but they should be moving up to pre spawn areas soon. Favorite time of year to be on the water.

Lake Mead Largemouth Bass Tips: [ Add Tip ]
- I\'m from the East Coast where Carolina Rigs/Texas rigs reign supreme...the bass in this lake, however, loveeee Rattle traps especially when trolling close to shore.
Largemouth Bass Tips for Current Conditions (automated):
With Lake Mead at 44 degree water temperature this is a great time to get out on the water and try hitting some deeper primary and secondary points. Largemouth bass will be feeding at this water temperature but will be much harder to catch. On Sunny warm afternoons its a great time to throw a crank bait, jigs or slow roll a spinnerbait at 5-10 foot on sunny points and drops off of sunny flats. Largemouth Bass will move into warm water on warm sunny days.

Lake Mead Smallmouth Bass Tips: [ Add Tip ]
Smallmouth Bass Tips for Current Conditions (automated):
Smallmouth bass fishing is going to be slow with the water temperature at 44 degrees. It's time to fish deep and slow. Try some deep primary points, drop offs, and old river channels with rocks. Jigs, plastics and deep jerk baits will be your best bet to boat a smallmouth.
Lake Mead Crappie Rating:
3.5
Lake Mead Crappie Tips: [ Add Tip ]
Crappie Tips for Current Conditions (automated):
Crappie will just be starting their migrating runs from deep river channels toward major tributaries. They will suspend in open water and channels in deep water and cover on the break lines. Crappie will stage off primary and secondary points this time of year while they are getting ready for spawn. Make sure you don?t forget the river channels, especially with structure and sharp breaks in deep water. Some crappy will hang back in this area waiting to come up to the staging areas. Drifting and slow (REALLY SLOW) trolling with jigs and other artificials work great this time of year. Always look for baitfish schools and concentrate more time when you see the bait.

Lake Mead Catfish Tips: [ Add Tip ]
- As the water warms up I see alot of fishermen losing their bait from the smallest strikes.Try threading your baits with an anchovie needle.Took me years to figure it out but an old timer showed me how and I catch alot more fish, because the bait tends to stay on when it's hot outside. So I spend a lot more time fishing than
baiting my hook!Only one place in vegas that Ive found that carries them LAKE MEAD BAIT AND TACKLE SHOP if your local and you fish you'll know where it's at!!!!!!
Catfish Tips for Current Conditions (automated):
The catfish family comprises of blue catfish, flathead catfish and channel catfish. Since catfish are warm water fish, they arenít going to be very active in this water temperature. They will still be feeding, but catfish will only be found very deep and feeding very slowly. Your best bet is give some of the more active fish species in your lake a shot until the cats are active again.

Lake Mead Striped Bass Tips: [ Add Tip ]
- Striped fishing has picked up. Head to the lake if you have been anxious to see those boils. The
mouth of boulder harbor has been successful with morning and late evening boils. Fish anything
that mimics a shad or any white topwater lure. The shad however, have been small but have been
showing up in abundant little schools throughout the shallows and coves. Watch for signs of
breaking water surface and diving birds.
Callville bay has been good as well. With boils here and there, you just need to look out to find
them or have the patience and they will show themselves to you.

Current Lunar Fishing Tip:

The affects of the moon on freshwater fish and game are at a minimum right now. There will be a new moon coming up here in a few days. The fisherman should never use this as an excuse to not get on the water. The affects of the moon can only enhance the outcome of a day's fishing not decrease potential catch for today. On days without the new or full moon, all other factors including weather, barometric pressure, wind and cloud cover will make up today's equation for success.
