FISHED JUNE 21 TO 28 2013, CAUGHT LOTS OF FISH=WALLEYE, PIKE, SMALL MOUTH, PERCH AND EVEN TWO SUCKERS(THEY WERE RELEASED) AND WHAT SEEMED TO BE COHO. WAS NOT A SPLAKE, RAINBOW ETC. CAUGHT AND RELEASED MANY WALLEYE JUST A SHY TOO SMALL. HOPE EVERYONE ELSE DOES SO THE FISHERY CAN CONTINUE TO IMPROVE. FISH FLY HATCH WAS JUST STARTING. GOOD WEATHER , SWIMMING AND FISHING. HOPE THINGS CONTINUE ON THE UPSWING AS IT HAS NOT BEEN GOOD FOR SEVERAL YEARS. MOST FISH WERE JUST KEEPERS OR IN THE 22 INCH PLUS RANGE. PROVES THAT FOR SEVERAL YEARS THERE WAS TOO MUCH NETTING AND NOT ENOUGH CONSERVATION, THROW BACK THOSE SMALL ONES!!!!!!

walleye fishing has become poor on this lake over the years. I have fished it for over 40 years and up until the last 15 fishing for walleye was fine. Improper allowed netting by tribal influences has decreased the native population of fish and local DNR have screwed up by planting millions of trout and when walleye were planted they did it on the wind side of the lake, causing most fish to die. No doubt there are still walleye here but not near as many as years ago. A dozen crawlers could last you up to a week unless the perch are biting. good luck

Species: Smallmouth Bass
Fishing Rating: 1
Water Temperature:
caught a number of bass between 2 and 4.5 lbs the end of june near the sunken island. used a crawler attached to a large green jig in 16 ft of water time of day did not matter. no walleye but many perch. good luck as this seems to be a hard lake to fish due to its size and improper conservation of the species over the years.

Crappie Tips for Current Conditions (automated):
Crappies will be deep and much more sluggish now than in warmer temperature water. They are definitely catchable if you know a few tips. Check the main river channels in deep water. Catching crappie from 25 all they down below 60 feet deep is not uncommon for this time of year. Vertical presentations work best in winter. Fish straight down below the boat using minnows, and other live bait, or really good scented bait. Kentucky Rigged baits and spoons jigged vertically and nice and slow work great also. Good luck!

- please do not keep the little walleye. fishing is just starting to pick up after years of neglect stocking has begun to improve things. Fish have been in deeper water-30 ft. troll slow using crawlers on jigs.

Current Lunar Fishing Tip:

The crescent moon will have better gravitational pull than a gibbous or half moon. However the affects of the moons gravitational will be decreased since the sun and moon aren't pulling in conjunction with one another. It's time to pay close attention to the other fishing factors in the weather to make the best decision for hitting the water.
