It's the full moon in the middle of May. The Largemouths are making their last big surge of spawning activity, and the Red Ear, Bluegill, and Catfish are at their peak of spawning. We had a great day catching lots of big Red Ears a couple days ago. Today I plan on catching some BIG ole Basses!

"Kentucky Lake Fishing Report Feb 8 2010 Perhaps area anglers have gotten spoiled the last few years. There have been winters when light winds and warm temps worked against waterfowlers but played right into the plans of fishermen suffering from cabin fever. This year has been different. From high water to low temperatures, winter weather has been stubborn to loosen its grip. Anglers have not fared well this winter in the Kentucky Lake area but perhaps that means more fish are left once spring arrives. for the rest of this fishing report go to http://www.parislanding.com/fishing_report_2810.htm"

"Feb 4th 2010 This time last week we had a water level near summer pool and the gates were open at Kentucky Dam. Today the gates are still open and we are about 2.5 feet above winter pool with a surface water temperature at the Dam of 44 degrees. The projection is for more of the same for several days to siphon the runoff created by the heavy snows from this weekend. Even if we have warmer air temps, I expect with the snow melt that the lake temps will stay about the same or drop a little. Stay tuned.. Kentucky Lake Largemouth Bass Rating:
3.5
Kentucky Lake Largemouth Bass Tips: [ Add Tip ]
Largemouth Bass Tips for Current Conditions (automated):
With Kentucky Lake at 44 degree water temperature this is a great time to get out on the water and try hitting some deeper primary and secondary points. Largemouth bass will be feeding at this water temperature but will be much harder to catch. On Sunny warm afternoons its a great time to throw a crank bait, jigs or slow roll a spinnerbait at 5-10 foot on sunny points and drops off of sunny flats. Largemouth Bass will move into warm water on warm sunny days.
Kentucky Lake Smallmouth Bass Rating:
4.5
Kentucky Lake Smallmouth Bass Tips: [ Add Tip ]
Smallmouth Bass Tips for Current Conditions (automated):
Smallmouth bass fishing is going to be slow with the water temperature at 44 degrees. It's time to fish deep and slow. Try some deep primary points, drop offs, and old river channels with rocks. Jigs, plastics and deep jerk baits will be your best bet to boat a smallmouth.
Kentucky Lake Crappie Rating:
3.5
Kentucky Lake Crappie Tips: [ Add Tip ]
- minnows, grubs and jigs
Crappie Tips for Current Conditions (automated):
Crappie will just be starting their migrating runs from deep river channels toward major tributaries. They will suspend in open water and channels in deep water and cover on the break lines. Crappie will stage off primary and secondary points this time of year while they are getting ready for spawn. Make sure you don?t forget the river channels, especially with structure and sharp breaks in deep water. Some crappy will hang back in this area waiting to come up to the staging areas. Drifting and slow (REALLY SLOW) trolling with jigs and other artificials work great this time of year. Always look for baitfish schools and concentrate more time when you see the bait.
Kentucky Lake Walleye Rating:
2.5
Kentucky Lake Walleye Tips: [ Add Tip ]
Walleye Tips for Current Conditions (automated):
Walleye will be staging and getting ready to spawn now. With Walleye spawning grounds generally on gravel and rocky bottoms and preferring clean water. Start looking for pre-spawn fish in deeper waters with easy access to shallow clean water rocky bottoms. Walleye should be feeding aggressively right up until they start laying eggs. This is a perfect time to be fishing for Walleye.
Kentucky Lake Catfish Rating:
4.5
Kentucky Lake Catfish Tips: [ Add Tip ]
Catfish Tips for Current Conditions (automated):
The catfish family comprises of blue catfish, flathead catfish and channel catfish. Since catfish are warm water fish, they arenít going to be very active in this water temperature. They will still be feeding, but catfish will only be found very deep and feeding very slowly. Your best bet is give some of the more active fish species in your lake a shot until the cats are active again.

4.5
