Species: Walleye
Fishing Rating: 1
Water Temperature:
Been limiting out on stripers in the warm water with live bait. Also been tearing up the walleye on the proven spawning grounds on the dam and rocky points (windblown usually) using shad raps and dark colored jigs. Can't wait for the 50 degree water to start showing up and the fishing to really start turning on!!!!!!!! Good Luck...

"Sounds crazy, but have been catching longnose gar in the spillway outlet. Biggest one I've seen (and caught) was 50 inches and weighed 12.2 lbs. Have seen about 10 caught in the same area, using jigs and live minnows. I Invite anyone to catch as many of the bait eaters as possible. Good luck."
Wilson Lake Largemouth Bass Rating:
3.5
Wilson Lake Largemouth Bass Tips: [ Add Tip ]
- Been catching them in the backs of the coves in warm water on sunny days. Had the best luck bouncing white twister tail grubs off of the rocks (slowly). Also have seen the bass chasing some bait on the really nice days with little to no wind.
Largemouth Bass Tips for Current Conditions (automated):
With Wilson Lake at 45 degree water temperature this is a great time to get out on the water and try hitting some deeper primary and secondary points. Largemouth bass will be feeding at this water temperature but will be much harder to catch. On Sunny warm afternoons its a great time to throw a crank bait, jigs or slow roll a spinnerbait at 5-10 foot on sunny points and drops off of sunny flats. Largemouth Bass will move into warm water on warm sunny days.

Smallmouth Bass Tips for Current Conditions (automated):
Smallmouth bass fishing is going to be slow with the water temperature at 45 degrees. It's time to fish deep and slow. Try some deep primary points, drop offs, and old river channels with rocks. Jigs, plastics and deep jerk baits will be your best bet to boat a smallmouth.

Wilson Lake Catfish Rating:

Wilson Lake Catfish Tips: [ Add Tip ]
- Fish are up in the river and in the backs of the coves (in the warmest water accessible). Have had good luck with live minnows but also did well with shad sides or any other "catfish" bait of your choice.
Catfish Tips for Current Conditions (automated):
The catfish family comprises of blue catfish, flathead catfish and channel catfish. Since catfish are warm water fish, they arenít going to be very active in this water temperature. They will still be feeding, but catfish will only be found very deep and feeding very slowly. Your best bet is give some of the more active fish species in your lake a shot until the cats are active again.

Wilson Lake White Bass Rating:

Wilson Lake White Bass Tips: [ Add Tip ]
- Try catching the whites up on the West end of the reservoir, while they are staging for the spawning run. White seems to be the color that is getting it done.

Current Lunar Fishing Tip:

The affects of the moon on freshwater fish and game are at a minimum right now. There will be another full moon coming up here in a few days. The fisherman should never use this as an excuse to not get on the water. The affects of the moon can only enhance the outcome of a day's fishing not decrease potential catch for today. On days without the new or full moon, all other factors including weather, barometric pressure, wind and cloud cover will make up today's equation for success.
