Species: Largemouth Bass
Fishing Rating: 5
Water Temperature: 70
I\'ve fished pretty frequently for Largemouth Bass here from middle August until today. Very successful only at dusk or later. The park closes at 10:00 pm. Hit 16inch plus sized bass off of cranks, spinners, and rubber/plastic minnows. The also bite on live minnows as well. Hits from high middle and bottom rigs. Top rigs being the least productive. Seaweed is a problem here and too many unexperienced fishermen tend to flock to the obvious hot spots but dont know what or how to use what works. I\'ve got plenty of pictures if interested in what I pull in.

Loomis Lake Largemouth Bass Tips: [ Add Tip ]
Largemouth Bass Tips for Current Conditions (automated):
At 58 degree water temperature largemouth bass fishing is in pre-spawn now. It's time to get fishing. Female bass are going to be moving up to the spawning beds. Male largemouth bass will be starting to build the spawning nests in protected coves. Bass prefer to spawn in weedy and woody cover deep in coves that will be protected from the wind and other elements. This is the best time to catch the lake record bass. The female bass will be feeding until they reach the beds and start the spawn. The smaller male bass will be attacking lures also. It is on like donkey kong!!! Hit the water NOW, we can?t believe you are reading this and not fishing right now. GET OUT!!
Loomis Lake Smallmouth Bass Rating:

Loomis Lake Smallmouth Bass Tips: [ Add Tip ]
Smallmouth Bass Tips for Current Conditions (automated):
The smallmouth bass spawn is in full swing now. Fishing will become slower but won't turn off completely. If you are fishing for female bass go with plastics and really slow your presentation and stay around the spawning beds. You should be able to find some larger females and male bass on the standard spring patterns. Female bass will really start to slow down on feeding and the fishing is going to be slower for a few weeks until they move into active patterns again. Hit the water NOW, we can?t believe you are reading this and not fishing right now. GET OUT!!
Loomis Lake Crappie Rating:

Loomis Lake Crappie Tips: [ Add Tip ]
Crappie Tips for Current Conditions (automated):
The crappie spawn should be really heating up now. Crappie prefers to spawn on gravel bottom typically with brush and/or emergent vegetation for cover. If the lake is void of gravel bottoms, find the rocks or rip rap. Crappie will use the larger structure rocks for cover. Cast some small grub baits in the shallows looking for the spawning crappie. Good luck today!
Loomis Lake Walleye Rating:
2.5
Loomis Lake Walleye Tips: [ Add Tip ]
Walleye Tips for Current Conditions (automated):
The walleye are coming off of the spawn now. Fish will be feeding very more aggressive making up for lost time eating during the spawn. Walleye will start moving back to their typical structure of choice and should be getting into the lake flats and deep structure. It?s time to hit the water. This may be the best water temperature to be on the water. There shouldn?t be too many fishermen on the water this early and there are many species that are hitting their prime water temperatures to be biting very well. Have fun today!
Loomis Lake Catfish Rating:

Loomis Lake Catfish Tips: [ Add Tip ]
Catfish Tips for Current Conditions (automated):
The catfish family comprises of blue catfish, flathead catfish and channel catfish. Since catfish are warm water fish, they arenít going to be very active in this water temperature. They will still be feeding, but catfish will only be found very deep and feeding very slowly. Your best bet is give some of the more active fish species in your lake a shot until the cats are active again.

Current Lunar Fishing Tip:

The crescent moon will have better gravitational pull than a gibbous or half moon. However the affects of the moons gravitational will be decreased since the sun and moon aren't pulling in conjunction with one another. It's time to pay close attention to the other fishing factors in the weather to make the best decision for hitting the water.
