Lake Blackshear Largemouth Bass Rating:
3.5
Lake Blackshear Largemouth Bass Tips: [ Add Tip ]
Largemouth Bass Tips for Current Conditions (automated):
With Lake Blackshear at 49 degree water temperature this is a great time to get out on the water and try hitting some deeper primary and secondary points. Largemouth bass will be feeding at this water temperature but will be much harder to catch. On Sunny warm afternoons its a great time to throw a crank bait, jigs or slow roll a spinnerbait at 5-10 foot on sunny points and drops off of sunny flats. Largemouth Bass will move into warm water on warm sunny days.
Lake Blackshear Smallmouth Bass Rating:

Lake Blackshear Crappie Rating:
3.5
Lake Blackshear Crappie Tips: [ Add Tip ]
Crappie Tips for Current Conditions (automated):
With the Water Temperature at 49 all crappie should be up in their spawning areas now and spawn should be getting started. There will be a few few still in the deeps and prespawn areas, but a majority should be up getting ready or already spawning. Continue to hit the creek channels on the migration routes. Focus on isolated cover in a little shallower water. No need to get crazy shallow but start focusing on 15 feet or less of water. On warmer sunny days if the water is still at 49 you should attempt to bounce back and forth from 5-15 feet of water to attempt nailing a solid pattern fo r the day. Try a Kentucky rig baited with minnow, tube bait and small jigs.
Lake Blackshear Catfish Rating:
3.5
Lake Blackshear Catfish Tips: [ Add Tip ]
- I was on vacation during march 22-29. The weather was very unpredictable. All my
family and i caught were 9 catfish and 1 hybrid bass. for catfish i would
recommend using worms, hot dogs, and chicken livers. the trick is to use a large
weight, and let the hook sink to the very bottom then reel up about a foot. then
let the fish take the bait completely before setting the hook. Also bring a net
with you because they will break your line if its light line.

Catfish Tips for Current Conditions (automated):
The catfish family comprises of blue catfish, flathead catfish and channel catfish. Since catfish are warm water fish, they arenít going to be very active in this water temperature. They will still be feeding, but catfish will only be found very deep and feeding very slowly. Your best bet is give some of the more active fish species in your lake a shot until the cats are active again.
Lake Blackshear Spotted Bass Rating:
3.5
Lake Blackshear Spotted Bass Tips: [ Add Tip ]
Spotted Bass Tips for Current Conditions (automated):
Spotted bass fishing is going to be slow with the water temperature down this low. It's time to fish deep and slow. Try some deep primary points, drop offs, and old river channels with rocks. Jigs, plastics and deep jerk baits will be your best bet to boat a Spotted.
Lake Blackshear White Bass Rating:
3.5
Lake Blackshear White Bass Tips: [ Add Tip ]
- If you can catch the White Bass feeding on top you are good to go for several minutes. They swarm the top of the water and are very easy to locate when they are chasing shad etc. You can throw a rooster tail, jig, or rattle trap through them and catch them effortlessly.

They are very active in the mornings just after sunrise, and the evenings just after sunset. Like I said, if you see a school of them pull a silver rooster tail through them and be ready to catch them!
