Well i hope somebody heard what I had to say about the day Eastman was to open back up, if you missed it, then you truly missed an amazing day of fishing. Id didn't weigh my fish but if i were to guess a five fish bag weight for a tournement, I would guess it to have been close to 25 Lbs. that is a five Lb average. I dont care what lake your on that is a great day. As on now, the bight has not stopped but the size of the fish has drastically changed. I can still boat 30 fish, but most are in the ten to 14 inch range, still fun to catch just not the size I prefer. I think the lake has had alot of presure as of late, that will slow down and the big fish will be more eager to bight. So be patient, and remeber to let the big ones go, take a picture it last longer. So always set the hook and grip some lips, good luck fishing, Bri-lo.

Just a heads up for my fellow fisherman. Eastman is currently shut down for repairs due to a rock slide. Dont worry, as much as I dislike the lake being shut down it is also a blessing. With no pressure for the next couple of weeks will only improve the bite. So when the time comes and the lake is open be ready to set the hook and lip some fish. Eastman is truly a trophy lake, even when the fishing is heavy, so with this little break it will be like opening day of dove season, you wont be able to keep them off you line. So get ready and I will see you there...Bri-lo :)

I just hit the lake on Thursday March 31, 2011, and the bite was on. Started about 3:30 in the aftrnoon and fished till dark. Hammered Large Mouth on 4" Ox Blood Senko's about ten feet off the bank. Stay out of the coves...no bite. Stick to the points or steep banks. The flats are not hitting yet. Landed 27 fish, big fish was 3 Lbs+. Give two more weeks of good weather and that number will double...good luck fishing, Bri-lo.

Eastman Lake Largemouth Bass Rating:

Eastman Lake Largemouth Bass Tips: [ Add Tip ]
- Use live minos without weight and only cast 5 to 10 feet off the bank.monsters are waiting just out of sight.
Largemouth Bass Tips for Current Conditions (automated):
With Eastman Lake at 44 degree water temperature this is a great time to get out on the water and try hitting some deeper primary and secondary points. Largemouth bass will be feeding at this water temperature but will be much harder to catch. On Sunny warm afternoons its a great time to throw a crank bait, jigs or slow roll a spinnerbait at 5-10 foot on sunny points and drops off of sunny flats. Largemouth Bass will move into warm water on warm sunny days.
Eastman Lake Smallmouth Bass Rating:

Eastman Lake Smallmouth Bass Tips: [ Add Tip ]
Smallmouth Bass Tips for Current Conditions (automated):
Smallmouth bass fishing is going to be slow with the water temperature at 44 degrees. It's time to fish deep and slow. Try some deep primary points, drop offs, and old river channels with rocks. Jigs, plastics and deep jerk baits will be your best bet to boat a smallmouth.
Eastman Lake Crappie Rating:

Eastman Lake Crappie Tips: [ Add Tip ]
- Just like the big mouth bass these little guys are covering the banks of this lake- small worms and minos will littler you with fish during the day.
Crappie Tips for Current Conditions (automated):
Crappie will just be starting their migrating runs from deep river channels toward major tributaries. They will suspend in open water and channels in deep water and cover on the break lines. Crappie will stage off primary and secondary points this time of year while they are getting ready for spawn. Make sure you don?t forget the river channels, especially with structure and sharp breaks in deep water. Some crappy will hang back in this area waiting to come up to the staging areas. Drifting and slow (REALLY SLOW) trolling with jigs and other artificials work great this time of year. Always look for baitfish schools and concentrate more time when you see the bait.

- bait choice seems to be shrimp that has been left in the sun for about a week. run your bait right where the dam meets the bottom of the lake and hold on.
Catfish Tips for Current Conditions (automated):
The catfish family comprises of blue catfish, flathead catfish and channel catfish. Since catfish are warm water fish, they arenít going to be very active in this water temperature. They will still be feeding, but catfish will only be found very deep and feeding very slowly. Your best bet is give some of the more active fish species in your lake a shot until the cats are active again.

Spotted Bass Tips for Current Conditions (automated):
Spotted bass fishing is going to be slow with the water temperature down this low. It's time to fish deep and slow. Try some deep primary points, drop offs, and old river channels with rocks. Jigs, plastics and deep jerk baits will be your best bet to boat a Spotted.

- surprize these fish are only about 5 to 10 feet down in this lake useing red worms and a small hook you will have your limit in about an hr. Note: these fish are only active once a year right when summer sets in when the water is still cold. Once the lakes water hits over 70 you will be lucky to catch one if any on this lake.

Current Lunar Fishing Tip:

The crescent moon will have better gravitational pull than a gibbous or half moon. However the affects of the moons gravitational will be decreased since the sun and moon aren't pulling in conjunction with one another. It's time to pay close attention to the other fishing factors in the weather to make the best decision for hitting the water.
